Louisiana holds its jungle primary tonight, and our
guide to the key races can be found here. In Louisiana, all candidates run on one ballot regardless of party. If one person takes more than 50 percent, he or she wins outright; otherwise, the top two vote-getters advance to a Nov. 21 runoff. Polls close 9 PM ET and we'll be bringing you the results as they come in.
Results: AP | SoS
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:15 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA-Gov: 49 percent of precincts are in. Democrat John Bel Edwards is taking the first runoff spot with 38 percent. For second, Vitter leads fellow Republican Angelle only 23-21.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:18 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA-LG: Still a three-way race for two runoff spots. Dem Holden has 32, while Nungesser leads fellow Republican Young 31-29. Young had a huge spending edge and he's well-known in the populous New Orleans area, so it would be a big surprise to see him fall short.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:20 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA-Gov: 57 percent of precincts in, and Vitter leads Angelle 23-22. Getting close again. Dardenne is at 15: If he wasn't in this, little doubt Angelle would be beating Vitter now.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:24 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA State Senate: 81 percent in and ex-Rep. Vance McAlister is losing 59-41 to another Republican. No comeback for the kissing congressman.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:25 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA-Gov: 66 percent of precincts are in, and Vitter's lead over Angelle has expanded to 23-21.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:29 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA-AG: No question this goes to a Republican vs. Republican runoff. Incumbent Buddy Caldwell leads ex-Rep. Jeff Landry by about 1 percent. Caldwell was a conservative Democrat who joined the GOP in 2011, but never established a good relationship with his new party; Landry is a tea partying true believer.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:31 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA-Gov: 70 percent of precincts are in, and Vitter leads Angelle 23-21 to get to the runoff. Vitter has had a small edge for most of the night.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:35 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA-Gov: Important point from WWL-TV: The populous West Bank of Jefferson Parish is still mostly out. That's a strong Vitter area.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:37 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA-Gov: 75 percent in and Vitter now leads Angelle 24-21. Dardenne is at 15: Angelle certainly wishes he had dropped out.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:39 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA-LG: Still tight here. Democrat Holden takes 31, while Nungesser leads fellow Republican Young 31-30.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:40 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA State House: State Rep. Stephen Ortego, one of a handful of Democrats left in a Romney seat, has lost 51-49 with all precincts in.
Sat Oct 24, 2015 at 7:41 PM PT (Jeff Singer): LA-Gov: The AP has called the second runoff spot for Vitter. He'll face Democrat John Bel Edwards Nov. 21.
