I previously reported here and here the results of my recording every bumper sticker I see while driving around the Cincinnati, Ohio area which clearly indicates support for either Bush or Kerry. After 100 stickers, 57 of them had been for Bush, 43 for Kerry. After 200, the results were exactly the same, 57% for Bush, 43% for Kerry.
My count has now reached 300 total stickers, and I ampleased to report the new totals are 162 for Bush, 138 for Kerry. Which equals 54% for Bush, 46% for Kerry. That's right, a solid 3 percentage point swing in the last couple of weeks.
If this most conservative area of Ohio is even this close come Election Day, I feel very good about our chances for winning the state and the White House. Also, my admittedly less-accurate count of yard signs so far has favored Kerry, 56 to 53. Mostly thanks to my neighbors in my especially enlightened neighborhood.
And if you want a reason to doubt the 4, 5, or 6% support for Nader shown in some polls, logic would dictate that out of 300 political stickers counted, at least a few would have been for Nader. But not a single one has been spotted by me. The only indication of any third-party support I've seen was a yard sign planted beside a state highway for Libertarian Badnarik.
