This is more of a rant than a diary of any substance but am I the only one that is outraged over the fact that the US Department of Justice has brought a whole lot of resources to bear on corruption at organization that runs soccer all over the world but yet lets big banks that have done far worse to our economy go scott free!

At this time when we are dealing with a complex issue of race relations and how we can have a discussion so that we ALL can see how we are affected by this, I am reminded of a simple experiment conducted by an at the time young woman in small rural town in Iowa.   Who knew that separating people by eye color could be a powerful teaching tool.

West Virginia Senator will run for reelection to the Senate in 2016.  This can be looked at in two ways..one it may take one less seat off the table for Democrats to defend since he is very popular in the state or two you can look at it that we have to put up with another Ben Nelson/Joe Lieberman.  He mentions how he thinks that work in the Senate has improved and that he can do good work for West Virginia in the Senate.  Here is an article from Huffington Post with the details.

I came across this article that talked about the incident with the SAE fraternity and the chants in the bus.   While many across the country and on this site have applauded the action taken by both the University of Oklahoma and the SAE national chapter, I would like to present another point of view that I think would have been much more appropriate. Haven't seen this online but I thought a bit of good news would be good.   After Barbara Comstock (R) was elected to Congress for the VA 10, she had to resign her State House seat and the Special Election to fill out the remainder of the term was held yesterday.  It has been widely written about how we don't turn out in off year elections and to make it even worse we had a freak snow storm that caused huge problems, those that are twitter followers have seen the #closefcps.   But we were able to pull it off with Kathleen Murphy ,who ran against Comstock in 2013 and lost 50.6% to 49.2%, won out over Craig Parisot by 51-48.  It should be noted that Comstock won this seat in 2009 during the disaster that was the Creigh Deeds campaign for Governor and only won reelection in 2011 with 54%.   This district ,which encompasses Fairfax as a major part of it and also goes into Loudoun, went for team blue in the last statewide elections for Governor, Lt. Governor, and State Attorney.   Obama carried it twice as well.   Murphy will have to turn around quickly as she will be up for reelection this coming November. This is a seat that we should be able to maintain for a while if we do our job at the local level.

After a disaster of an election even with your guy winning but by a smaller margin then expected...a good time off and then to take a look again is in order to see where we are and where we should go.  More people who are more in the know in VA can chime in below.

After all the NFL has gone through the only way change will occur is when the money starts to go.   Maybe this is the first shot to be fired.  Follow below the fold.

While watching CNN, they broke a story that a delta flight was diverted to Paris based on threats to Ben Gurion.  White House says that the FAA has not issued any warnings at all and that this may be a move by the carrier alone.  CNN also reported that other carriers were cancelling flights to Israel but offered no statements. This maybe a reaction to the situation in the Ukraine and wanting to be cautious. Will try and get links to the story

When reading about Hobby Lobby it got me thinking of a way that we could get around all of the new found religious rights that companies want to engage in.  Follow below and add on in the comments section

This is more of a rant but if any of you have connections to the media, could you spread the word on this.  I work in  the Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia and due to our all GOP Board of Supervisors, they have given the School Board a 40 million hole to fill.  Loudoun County is the most affluent county in the US.  Due to the fact that they might have to cut positions and let people go from their job, they have to send out RIF (Reduction In Force) notices TO ALL OF THE TEACHERS that you might not have a job next year. Of course all of this is before Spring Break, nice touch.  Elections matter and even in purple Virginia, some pockets of red exist.

With Mark Herring's win the State Attorney General's race it created an open State Senate race in a district that has been carried by the Democrats in the last two Presidential and the last Governor's Race very easily. It has been well documented on this site  on the performance of Team Blue in an off year election and it's not real good. So follow below the fold for some important information.

I know this is a short diary but in a piece in the Washingtonpost.com, former NJ Gov Tom Kean who is still popular to this day made a few comments that are worth noting.  Tom Kean who is a popular Republican in NJ and who served as a mentor to Christie and even recommended him to the US Attorneys office for where he made a name for himself.  But now things have turned interesting.  Follow below the fold
