Lauren Underwood, the only female candidate on the IL 14th Primary ballott is given the nod at 52 percent of the precincts posting results. Lauren wins with just over 16,000 votes (59%) in her column.

She held her election returns rally at Main Street Pub in St. Charles.

Maybe I'm just cynical, but I admit to being astounded that Walmart finds it okay to pit food banks against one another in the competition to feed hungry people. The conglomerate that pays many of its employees too little to keep them out of poverty is challenging the food banks that help feed the people who work for the billionaire Waltons to compete for $3 million in funding.

How can this be right? It certainly doesn't feel right. What's more is we can't see on the website how many food banks will fail to "earn" some of these funds. We can only see the top 50 "winners." How do we get the food banks to boycot these efforts. This is a competition to bring eyeballs to celebrate Walmart's spin on how great the company is to be giving $3 million to 50 food banks. Give me a break!! First their structurally-created employment poverty gives rise to the demands on the food banks, then they structure giving by driving "eyeballs" to the website. This is somehow quite dispicable. Over the fold, my umbrage goes.

As a 49-year-old woman, I know what it means to be neutered by sexism. It means to be tossed into the fray for how I look not what I know. Sarah Palin is being rolled out with the harshest sexist tactics available for the past 30 years.

Today in reponse to the twisted perversion that allowed Barack's efforts on protecting children from pedophiles to be used in a political ad, made me wonder if there isn't away to create a 24/7 on-line, rapid response chat room.

The campaign would select five to seven people at a time to monitor the media and send responses and reflections to a chat room. We would get assigned to be availabe on-line in shifts so there's always someone monitoring activity. The best ideas could go forward to create ads and responses. While the campaign leadership is great, the more ideas the better the chance for a biting response that will stick.

Thank you, Barack, for the new ad addressing the issue of choice. There was a diary on Daily Kos earlier this week asking if those who oppose choice should be "pro-life" or "anti-choice." They are really neither; they are "forced birthers."

Forced-birthers want to legislate whether a woman has to give birth to a child, but they disappear figuratively and legislatively when it comes to caring for any child that results from that birth or for the mother/parents who is first pregnant and then the mother/parents of an infant.

They interpret morality as forcing a heart beat and respiration into the world, without regard for quality of life for the new person or the family into whose life this human being is born. But this issue is so much larger than that and I want to talk about the immorality of forcing birth on anyone without regard to the consequences.
