In it she argues that Rachel Ray and Dunkin Donuts are sending coded pro-terrorist messages by wearing a "Jihadi Chic Keffiyeh" in an ad - its a scarf around her neck with a paisley design.
Even though Malkin has a tendency to be a little outlandish in her opinions, I sincerely thought that this was a joke when I first read it. A little self-effacing humor perhaps, maybe a slow news day or the equivalent of an April Fools joke. But the more I read the more I realized "Oh my god... she's serious."
I realize now that Malkin's piece was actually a glimpse into a warped mind, an opportunity to peer into the depths of xenophobic paranoia. It turns out that, to people like Michelle - a Dunkin Donuts ad featuring Rachel Ray can be a secret propaganda message. If even THAT inspires this kind of paranoia I can only imagine what she and others like her must "see" in the news media on a nightly basis.
