What are progressives about? Well, many things. But one thing we are about is seeding, building, and strenghthening communities.
These communities could be as small as families, or as big as whole cities. They could be religious or secular. We want the whole country to feel like a big family, that takes care of each other, protects each other, and help each other grow and be our best.
What is the Republican vision? Well, not that, that's for sure.
This is from the latest Dan Froomkin entry (always a great read) in the WaPo.
The White House will brandish independent studies on program effectiveness, appeals for lawmakers to set priorities, and, on occasion, some rhetorical creativity. The deep cuts to community development, for example, have been titled the 'Strengthening America's Communities Initiative'.
Beyond the cynic, Orwellian use of language, we can see starkly in that short passage how different our looks for the country are.
