This is a short diary (and my first in a long time).
This morning, after reading most of the articles here on DailyKos, I decided to Google the following:
“Donald Trump is a”
And you know something, I got ZERO suggestions. Given my experience with Google, I expected at least one suggestion. So I tried several iterations:
“Donald Trump is an”
“Trump is a/an”
And again, zero suggestions.
I still thought that odd, so I Googled:
Biden is a”
I got seven suggestions, including:
“a democrat”
“ahead of Trump”
“a dope”
“ahead in the polls”
“an albatross”
“a Trojan Horse”
To be fair, I also Googled “Donald Trump Is”, and I got several suggestions. The first on the list was something called “Fandom.com”, of which I hadn’t heard. The linked article was a fantasy web site that said the Donald Trump had amassed a 55% approval rating, and defeated Kamala Harris in the 2020 election, and that Mike Pence succeeded him after that.
It’s an interesting microcosm of the way the media manipulates the public. As KOS readers, this is not new information. Given that the sites I visit are either centrist or left-leaning, I was a little surprised by the results.
If you’re bored, and want to try this yourself, I’d be interested to hear what results are seen by other KOS readers.
