Happy National Emergency Tuesday!
Feels totally different, right?
Well, it’s as good a day as any to remember that you can impeach Elliott Abrams, if you want to. Even for things he did the last time he was in government. Or the time before that. And aside from removing him from office, you can bar him from any further federal “service.” Just something to think about. That’s why it doesn’t actually matter if the person you’re impeaching has actually left the office from which you’re impeaching him. Because removal from office is not the sole purpose of impeachment.
In fact, if you felt like it, you could still impeach Brett Kavanaugh over his service as a Circuit Court judge, and then bar him from federal service as a result. It’s a fun idea to think about if you’re afraid of impeaching a Supreme Court Justice.
I don’t know if we’ll actually talk about that today. There’s plenty of other interesting things to discuss. It just felt like a good Tuesday thing to say.
Listen right here at 9:00 AM ET!
PODCAST LISTENERS: There’s a new podcast platform in town, and the big news is: this one pays! RadioPublic pays podcast producers on a CPM basis, for listens on their native app (available for iPhones & Androids), financed by pre- and post-roll ads they insert. Not a bad way to support the show, with somebody else’s money!
So if you’re a podcast listener, please consider downloading the RadioPublic app on your Android or iOS phone. Yes, you can still download directly from their site, or listen to the player embedded here at Daily Kos. But it’s listens in their app that count toward payment.
Nothing changes on our end. It’s still Greg Dworkin, Joan McCarter, and even Armando. Plus also, me. And you! As always, we still want your voice on the air with us. Sit down with your smart phone or other electronic recording device and send us your stories and commentary to share with the audience. There’s no easier way to try your hand at podcasting, without all the hassle!
Of course there’s no substitute for having your support via Patreon, or one-time contributions via Square Cash. (And hey, if you want a cool trick for donating sorta-kinda cost free, get their cash.me app and use this share code to get $5 in your account (plus $5 in mine) when you send your first $5 (to anyone)!
For now, how about one on the house? Here’s what we did last time out, on our previous LIVE show:
David Waldman presents a special President’s Day KITM! Hey, remember when we had a President? At Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach, Donald Trump can let his hair down (on the nightstand) to take a break from Emergency Executive Time and walk the walk over from the telly-telly to the omelet bar, his Twitter thumb hovering at Defcon 1 status. Mike Pence sycophanted his hardest at Munich, but "Please clap" translated badly with his audience. Angela Merkel knew the room a bit better. Ivanka Trump was there for no reason, but did say "America first doesn't mean America alone," even as more and more prefer it that way. Donald Trump, winner of the Six Star “Joey No Socks” Diamond Award, received the most beautiful Xerox of a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. This will be Donald’s third nomination, and his first non-forged nomination. Greg Dworkin reviews Trump’s doubling down on nothing strategy, a real dictator move that creates more problems than it solves, and for 2020, some good old fashioned immigrant-bashing and Democrat-dissing. Dems can take their tried and true surrender route, or maybe this time supporting their constituents. The Family Fun Pack makes parenting easy for everyone! Republican constituents are beginning to hate how the Tax Plan worked out for them, hate how the Immigration Plan is working out for them, and will hate how the National Emergency Declaration is going to work out for them. North Korea has bedeviled past Presidents, but that doesn’t mean Trump isn’t the worst on them too. Is Robert Mueller almost finished? Don’t believe anyone but Bobby on this one. Either way, Trump won’t be able to run the Mueller playbook on the New York feds. The House of Commons in London shows how to handle Cambridge Analytica. More emoluments to Trump show up, from Paul LePage. Are you insane to not know how the 25th amendment works by now? Armando is more than ready to invoke the 25th Amendment, raze the Electoral College, and impeach Elliot Abrams.
