Quickie Recap:
Diary I: (Dunvegan) links and background information are setup in anticipation of this hearing. See Diary I for Sampson wiki Bio.
Diary II: (greenchildem) begins after Sen. Leahy and Sen. Schumer have made opening statements, a recess to vote on senate floor, Kyle Sampson made his opening statement and Sen. Kohl is given the gavel while Sen. Leahy has to go to the floor for another vote. Sen. Kohl has held up continuing until the Chairman returns.
Diary III: (jancw) DiFi rocked, Herb rolled, Sessions threw more softballs than , and Hatch took a little time to smooze with his old underling Sampson (ya didn't know he worked for Hatch? Well, Happy Birthday!)
Diary IV: (donnamarie) begins after Senator Feinstein's first round & during Senator Sessions first round. Cardin had Sampson looking as stiff as Nikki and Paulo. It ended during the break & C-SPAN took viewer calls.
Diary V: (peace voter) A brief break, which included a re-veiwing of Sampson's opening statement, Bush's lame joke about lawyers, and the White House Press Liar lying about lies. Diary-comment highlights:
Okay, so just in the short time I've been listening in, Sampson accidentally confessed to committing a felony: "I didn't intend to mislead McNulty" (ignorance of the law is no defense).
He also deflected questions about his qualifications to be employed in his previous position as Dep. AG, by throwing responsibility for decision-making for the firings right back into the laps of Gonzales, as AG, and Miers, as president's counsel.
Thank goodness for the arrogance of fools. He really thought he was going to show up and snow the Senate.
In response to questioning from Helen Thomas, new White House spokesperson Dana Perino is claiming that we did not invade and we are not now occupying Iraq and we have no responsibility for any violence now happening in Iraq. We apparently went there under a U.N. resolution and are now there under the invitation of the democratically elected government of Iraq. Yeah, sure.
