I just saw Barack give one of his best speeches yet in Nashua. His '04 DNC speech is arguably his best, but his Iowa caucus victory speech was up there, and today's Nashua speech was just as good.
It was on C-SPAN, and I'm sure they'll post a YouTube video soon. Please...do yourself a favor and watch this speech whenever it gets uploaded. In the meantime, check out this recently uploaded "Road to New Hampshire" video.
There's lots of Barack cynics on DailyKos. That's fine. But do yourself a favor and watch today's Nashua speech when it's uploaded. Who knows...you just might be inspired. I'm not saying Barack is perfect. But he is a once-in-a-generation candidate. He's my generation's MLK/JFK. And he's also got a sense of humor and humility...he just seems genuine. I've never been this excited about a candidate in my lifetime. It's not "candidate worship", as Kos claims. It's unfortunate that some of the old anti-war Dean alumni have been so cynical about this 2008 people-powered Obama movement, but we still look forward to working with y'all again after this nomination is over. There's too much at stake.
I'm glad that Iowa has given both Obama and Edwards a chance to get their message out, and I think Edwards should stay in as long as he wants. He's earned the right to compete. But if today's Nashua crowd is any indiication, then the good folks of New Hampshire are fired up and ready to go! Barack's definitely feeling it...he's hit his groove. There was a stadium full of people, and it was an awesome event.
If you live in Austin, then join us for a New Hampshire Watch Party at Scholz Garten. Our Iowa Watch Party had over 150 people, and it was lots of fun. If you're fired up and ready to volunteer, then sign up online with our local volunteer group.
Just for fun...
I know the nomination has only started. I'm not getting over-confident. We're still making volutneer phone calls to the early states, and we're gonna play this one game at a time...just like the NE Patriots. But just for fun...I'd like to do an initial VP survey for Barack. It's always fun for political nerds to speculate about VP, so have at it...
(My preference is Obama/Gore '08.)
