It's the last day of early voting in Texas, and the numbers have already been incredible.
But OMG, you should see the lines today.
I voted two weeks ago on my way to work. My husband put it off until this morning around 10. He said the line stretched out of the store and into the parking lot; there were at least 100 people in line when he got there and just as many in line when he left.
I drove by that same polling location at around 1 this afternoon -- and it's the same story. That line is staying long all day.
I also drove down to Obama HQ during lunch to pick up some yard signs. (In Austin, we finally got signs in! If you're a precinct captain, head on down and pick up some to put out. If you're not a precinct captain, you can buy them for $5 each or 3 for $10. Go now!!!!)
While I was in HQ, two ladies walked in (both sixty-something, both Hispanic) and they were grinning ear to ear. "We came here to volunteer from now until the general election!" one said. "What do you need us to do? And we want to make a donation, too!" Awesome!
I've got my Obama bumper sticker on my car (which has started several conversations at my kids' school and on the soccer field) and I've got a sign up in my yard. And I'll be putting more signs up tonight at major intersections.
It's a great time to be a Texan -- and I have never been more excited about two-steppin' in my life! :-)
