Okay, so it's 12:30 am here on the West Coast and god knows if anyone is out there, but in case you are and you missed it, Inverted has a diary up that quotes some pretty explosive stuff from the Moscow Times.
In a nutshell, the Bush Adminstration has a man inside the all-but-elected United Iraqi Alliance... and that man has apparently agreed to sell off Iraq's oil -- not the PRODUCT, mind you, but the actual OIL -- to the highest bidder.
And guess who the highest bidder is going to be?
Go visit the diary. It's damned slim on commentary from the diarist himself, but he's new, so go easy on the kid...
Bush Gets His Oil & Sistani Gets His God
Had a little trouble with the title at first, but I think this one's a keeper! Go give the man some love!
Update [2005-2-12 3:42:46 by Maryscott OConnor]: Originally this update was a plea for you to open up the diary and kick the virtual ass of the guy who made the first comment... but that felt like crying to momma, so now I'd just ask you to open it because the Extended text contains a link to ANOTHER good diary...
And if you feel up to it, why not give baobab's
Archivist of the United States a visit?
(and don't take my word for it... The Great and Fabulous Soj also saw fit to recommend this one...)
Seems Bush has fired the Archivist of the United States -- rather historic, being that it's never happened before.
And further, it seems Bush wants to install his OWN Archivist to do the exquisitely important job of maintaining and protecting this nation's historical documents.
Looks like a bunch of fuddy duddy historians are holding up the nomination though -- maybe it has something to do with their suspicion that the new Archivist will be in charge not so much of PRESERVING documents as DESTROYING them? Just a guess.
