THIS IS CALL TO IMMEDIATE ACTION
For more, see last night's diary
The Whole World is Watching. It's Time For the Local Politicos to Realize It, which serves as the underpinnings for this one. Please rec this specific call to action as you so wonderfully did last night's general call. And act! Thank you.
Most of us following #OccupyWallStreet remember this scene on October 1st on the Brooklyn Bridge:
Indeed, the whole world was watching, and continues to watch partly because of that spark.
It's time to make sure that the people controlling the police -- the politicians who call the shots in smaller #Occupied cities around the country -- know that
The Whole World is Watching
Every day we read about how this Mayor or that Police Commissioner is on the verge of rousting the #Occupiers from some location somewhere. But what if they were made aware that the whole world was watching by having their offices innundated with phone calls and emails from around the world? Would they take a different tack? Let's find out.
I propose two initial quests: The Mayor of Oakland, Jean Quan, who has threatened #OccupyOakland with eviction twice despite initially being supportive; and the Mayor of Seattle, Mike McGinn, who has allowed police to arrest protesters doing nothing more than sitting with umbrellas over their heads in a public park.
The job of the 99% of the 99% who aren't #Occupying (that would be you and me) is to call and (politely) tell these decision makers

If you're reading this, it should be past 9:00 AM on the west coast and mayoral offices should be open. Send mail and make a call.
Last night's diary has an awesome email by Kossack angelajean to the Mayor of Oakland. Worth reading! Here's my simple and direct email to the Mayor of Seattle.
The whole world is watching how you handle #OccupySeattle. Stop harassing your own citizens over umbrellas. Leave the protesters alone.
