Actually, there's not much artful in Rep. Paul Ryan's dodging of this senior lady's questions about why he wants to slash Medicare and Medicaid while giving a $5 trillion tax break to millionaires. He's just there for the photo op, dammit. And to make a few bucks off of his book. He's not there to, you know, engage with people about the policies he talks about in his book.
Immigration activists didn't have much luck with him, either:
"A couple weeks ago you voted for defunding DACA," one activist asked Ryan as a staffer snapped a photo of them on an iPad. "It would put me and my sister up for deportation. We just had a question. Do you want to deport me and my sister?"
"Thanks for coming. Read my book," Ryan replied as another staffer escorted the activist and his sister away.
I guess that's a little more courageous than Sen. Rand Paul:
escape strategy. Except for the part where another activist, Ray Jose, tried to ask Ryan about his DACA vote: "Jose was escorted away from the congressman by a security guard."
For someone so certain of his policies he wrote a whole book about it, Ryan sure isn't anxious to actually talk to people about them.
