There have been several pleas for help here on DK in the past few weeks. It seems like lots of people may be having a rough time during this festive period. I’ve read a number of those diaries and made some contributions. I think that many of the DKos folks are tremendous. Some will do whatever they can, as soon as they can. Others may have to wait, saying “I can’t give right now but I’ll have a few dollars next month that I can send.” Some have job suggestions or ideas for funding or other valuable input that is helpful.
One of our brethren here, Patrick, has posted twice trying to get some assistance. He’s been on site for a few years (as "leathersmith"), and done some diaries in the past, focused on the politics in his local area.
Come below the orange Happy Holidays decoration for more on his story.
Patrick relocated to a different city in the same state since he was promised a job at that site. Within a few days, the job vanished. He’s now stuck with bills to pay, personal needs to take care of and some medical issues. He’s chillin’ in the Winter Wonderland of Walkeristan Wisconsin. He’s got some goods to sell: handmade mobiles of leaded glass (think spirit catcher except that these are rainbow throwers.) https://www.youtube.com/...
He also does excellent hand-crafted leather work. You can watch him work here as he listens to some kick-ass music. http://madisonleathersmith.com/... you might be interested in a purchase of leather goods, too.
Patrick's made pottery in the past (and drums with stoneware bases called dumbeks) and is trying to get set up with pottery supplies to get started again. An art teacher is retiring and selling his used pottery supplies and tools and Patrick is hoping to get them. http://www.dailykos.com/...
He’s set up a GoFundMe page http://www.gofundme.com/... to help him raise money for the pottery equipment. Patrick is scrambling and trying to get started and make ends meet through the winter. He’s planning on opening a business making canvas boat coverings. He’d be the only competitor to the company that fired him after his move.
I’ve made a small donation to his GoFundMe campaign and hope a few of you can do the same and/or buy a rainbow maker or some leather goods.
If you can help in any way, a purchase, donation, some ideas, etc., I’m sure that Patrick would be most grateful. And 'tis the season . . .
Thanks.
