Sometimes you come across a story of people being such human rectums that you just have to shake your head in stunned wonder. This is one of those stories.
Back in 2012, Ming Lian Zhou, partial co-owner of two restaurants in the Richmond District of San Francisco, had been investigated by the Department of Labor. He was found to have underpaid 48 employees nearly $93,000. He was ordered to pay these people their money and demonstrate that he had done so. Zhou turned over some dubious documents to the Department of Labor who smelled a great big rat. Turned out, the documents were falsified and Zhou hadn't actually paid one thin dime to his workers.
Well, you can imagine. They did not like that at all. They came back at him in 2013 and ordered he pay them directly so they could see the money was properly distributed. That would be an ugly enough story if it ended right there. It didn't. It just gets more outrageous.
Today, Zhou was indicted yet again, this time on charges of making false statements to a government agency and for threatening his employees with economic harm. It seems that Zhou had handed over the check to the Department of Labor and then went back to his employees and ordered they cash their checks and slap their money in his grubby little fist. Those who refused were dealt with by having their hours cut and in some cases, being terminated. I told you, human rectum.
The skin crawls.
