When we think of “good karma” or “bad karma” it’s usually in the context of having some control over our fate - doing things deliberately that will have a positive or negative effect in our lives depending on the actions we put into motion. Most people tend to believe that karma ensures that, sooner or later, people will face the consequences of their actions. You reap what you sow. Your chickens will come home to roost. What goes around comes around.
Welcome to the Wednesday Coffee Hour here at Street Prophets. This is an open thread where we can talk about what's going on in our worlds.
Everyone is welcome to discuss all topics of conversation, to post photos, and answer that eternal question: "What's for supper tonight?"
But what about the people who never seem to be affected by the horrible things they do? For instance, they’re completely incompetent on the job, they treat people badly, they take credit for work that others do, they’re miserly, they brag about themselves constantly, they blame everyone else for their mistakes - and, what’s worse, they seem to get away with it for years. Not only do they make everyone around them miserable, the universe seems to reward them for it - they make a ton of money, drive an expensive car, and live in a big fancy house. Why would the universe do that? It just doesn’t correspond with our sense of fairness. And, when we have despicable people like this in our life, is it because we did something to deserve it?
These are just some questions I’ve been wrestling with for a while. Any thoughts?
According to our much missed BlueJessamine, it's Booby Wednesday and this is a Public Service Announcement: Self exams can save lives!
