Well, some of us have been waiting for this one. If you have checked out any of the Donald Trump campaign rally video clips circulating social media, you might have noticed some Adele music playing in the background. Turns out Adele doesn’t want her music affiliated with the Republican presidential candidate who is known, by many, to be a racist, sexist, Islamaphobic, hate-speaking, immigrant hating, bigoted, bombastic, asshat.
Nadia Agrawal with The Huffington Post says Adele fans were outraged and began tweeting her about their concerns. A spokesperson for the multi-Grammy winning singer-songwriter says they intend to put a stop to Trump’s usage.
“Adele has not given permission for her music to be used for any political campaigning,” Adele's spokesperson told the Independent.
Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and REM’s Michael Stipe also demanded GOP’s Donald Trump immediately “cease and desist” using their music for political use. (And Tyler is reportedly a Republican.) Stipe and REM band members went so far to tell the Trumpmeister to, “Go f*ck yourself,” as well as a few other choice terms of endearment.
Wonder what lovely comeback Trump will have for Adele. Whatever it may be, it’s not likely to bother the quick-witted top-selling artist, nor cause her to worry about losing fans. When it comes to choosing Donald or Adele, bets have it that the majority will go with the ever-endearing Adele. Trump would do best to simply desist.
Adele leapt in to the international spotlight several years ago with her career-breaking song called, “Someone Like You.” Since then, she has accumulated a plethora of awards, as well as high accolades by the harshest of critics. This past fall, Adele, now 27, released the first single to her most recent album that continues to break music industry records. Here is the YouTube video to, “Hello.”
Cheers to Adele. Thumps to Trump.
