A daily series, Connect! Unite! Act! seeks to create face-to-face networks in each congressional district. Groups regularly socialize but also get out the vote, support candidates and engage in other local political actions that help our progressive movement grow and exert influence on the powers-that-be. Visit us at Daily Kos every morning at 7:30 A.M. Pacific Time to see how you can get involved. The comment thread is fun and light-hearted, but we're serious about moving the progressive political agenda forward. |
SFKossacks Welcome RLMiller to San Francisco
RLMiller is the President of Climate Hawks Vote Political Action, the Climate Hawks Vote Super PAC. RL is the elected chair of California Democratic Party’s environmental caucus. She is also an active climate blogger and organizer. Past work has included exposing the politics of climate denial and opposing fracking for oil in California, as well as advocacy and organizing on behalf of clean-economy legislation. RL earned high honors in political science at UCSD for writing a thesis on coal exports, and a law degree from UC Davis.
About Climate Hawks:
We're seeking to elect leaders willing to take on the greatest challenge facing the next few generations of humanity. Too many Democratic politicians consider climate to be just another issue bubbling below the surface of top priorities, and too many advocates are willing to excuse Democratic politicians who tout their states' coal and oil resources. We need aggressive, progressive champions of climate justice—climate hawks.
At our dinner, RLMiller talked about some candidates worth supporting because of their strong support for climate issues.
For those of you frightened by the photo above, here is one to calm you down:
See? Nothing but nice, approachable and welcoming.
Our dinner lasted four hours and resulted in lots of great conversation as people rotated around the long table. Thanks to all who made the trek into the city to meet RLMiller. Thanks to Markos for sponsoring this dinner. It was completely worthwhile and we welcome all visitors to San Francisco to let us know they are comin’ to town. We love rolling out the red carpet for any reader of Daily Kos.
Today’s CUA entry is an OPEN THREAD, please let us know what is going on in your locale.
