Hey now folks, I see another one of us has recently secured a sweet, sweet income source, which beats no income source and its associated dismays. Tip of the hat to sheddhead, may your new gig suit you and yours well.
I too have finally freed myself of the travails of self-employment. There is actually a time-clock to punch in and out of. I feel back into old habits and signed back up with a worker-owned cab company in Madison WI. I switch from driving my ‘85 Chevy van to these dinky little Prius’s.
Took me half a shift to find the switch to turn the headlights on, and another half a day to finally find the km/hr → m/hr toggle. The seats are feats of ergo-fail, and most drivers sit on an extra cushion. I step into and out of my van: I enter the Prius like a hermit crab its shell. Generally, a nice set of speakers depending on the year of the car and usually an AUX audio input.
Back in the 1990’s I was with the same coop, driving paratransit vans around Madison.
I really appreciate the kindness so many of you sent this way.
So do the kids.
