Rush Limbaugh mug shot
No stranger to trouble, that one.
As advertisers continue to bail out and some radio stations begin rethinking this whole "broadcast the daily racist and sexist musings of this particular gigantic toxic blowhard" thing, it looks like Rush Limbaugh is now in full-on crisis management mode. Or, at least, he's hired a crisis manager:
Brian Glicklich has been acting on Limbaugh's behalf since at least March 8. Glicklich is a former vice president at Premiere Radio Networks, and currently heads the firm How Handy Is That, which specializes in reputation and crisis management and "gadfly defense." He previously worked as counsel to a firm that provides crisis management to clients like David Copperfield and Paris Hilton. Glicklich also has an extensive relationship with Glenn Beck, and is thanked in the acknowledgements of several of Beck's books.
Media Matters notes that Limbaugh's sudden appearances on Twitter coincides almost exactly with Glicklich's own tweeted defenses of Limbaugh, which would at least explain why Rush, out of all possible ways to defend himself, suddenly came up with the random idea to say stuff on not-radio. (Limbaugh is also giving away IPads people who retweet his wisdom on the twitters, in what we will call Operation Buy Me Some Love, notable also for Rush's promise that he will not announce your name on his show if you win. Even Rush knows many of his fans don't want other people to know they actually listen to Rush.)

I am not sure how someone who acts as Glenn Beck's crisis manager has time in his day to crisis manage for anyone else. That seems like a full-time job right there. And Paris Hilton, too? (Note: If we get a goddamn Carl's Junior commercial with a half-naked Rush Limbaugh eating a burger on the hood of a car, I'm just letting you know that I'll be killing myself right then and there.)

Mr. Glicklich specializes in "gadfly defense". How this works when your client is the actual gadfly is unclear (let's not forget who started calling who a slut on a nationally broadcast radio show, and kept at it for days.) With any luck, however, perhaps Rush Limbaugh's new crisis manager will, after all else fails, simply advise his client that as matter of professional opinion he should maybe just shut the hell up already. That would be a nice change of pace.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
