A fourth recent poll in AZ shows the senate race is tied, or is close.  This new poll conducted by Anzalone Liszt Research shows Jeff Flake only holding a slim 44-43 lead over Dr. Carmona

Dr. Carmona still has significant growth potential, while Congressman Jeff Flake has only lukewarm support.

Among Independents, Carmona is viewed favorably by 47 percent and unfavorably by 14 percent. And over the last month, Carmona's name ID has gone from 30 percent to 48 percent.

Congressman Flake, meanwhile is underwater with Independents -- 38 percent viewed him favorably and 40 percent had an unfavorable opinion.

# On Sept 11 Public Policy Polling showed Flake with a slim 44 to 43 lead
# On Sept 25 Rasmussen (which frequently leans Republican) showed Flake with a 6 point lead
# A Republican poll published on Sept 19 showed Carmona ahead of Flakeby 5 points

My experience with Carmona after the tangerine flower...

One of my closest friends (now deceased) worked  as an ER room nurse when Carmona was chief of the trauma center. He often told me (long before Carmona was Surgeon General) what a great Dr. Carmona was. Said he had great judgement, and was respectful of nurses.

Another friend worked with him as a volunteer police officer, He also would rave about Carmona.

The first friend was an about-as-liberal-as-you-can-get proud hippie. The other one was a dyed-in-the-wool Fox-watching Conservative. They both liked and respected Carmona enormously.

That's why I think he has a good chance this year in AZ. He really is a moderate, and a genuine good guy. Not to mention a history of brave selfless actions.
Flake is well known, having a long tenure in Congress (came in 2000 supporting term-limits, and then. just. couldn't. leave )..  and even on Rasmussen, he can't break 44% ??

But the only problem is that Carmona is not well enough known yet...  From the recent poll analysis: http://www.carmonaforarizona.com/...

Carmona's favorability rating in Arizona is more than twice his unfavorable rating, 34 percent to 15 percent. Among Independents, Carmona is viewed favorably by 47 percent and unfavorably by 14 percent. And over the last month, Carmona's name ID has gone from 30 percent to 48 percent.
About 50% of Arizonans don't know Carmona. We have to change that, because if they get to know him, they will like him.  He has an impressive resume.

And Flake's  got some big supporters like "Club for Growth" and Freedom works trying hard to define Carmona. http://www.freedomworksforamerica.org/...

For those still thinking of whether to kick in a few bucks I just wanted to point out fivethirtyeights "bang for the buck" map of the senate races, where Arizona tops the list of value for your $.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
