michelewin's quilt, showing the backing

Good news -- racheltracks is home from the hospital!  She's not completely out of the woods yet -- she is being monitored for problems with her heart, post knee surgery.  Racheltracks did spend two and half days on life support because she suffered congestive heart failure.  We are so lucky that she is getting better because racheltracks is a treasure.  Let's surround her with love and collect the messages we need to make her a community quilt.

michelewin's quilt

A community quilt contains loving messages from you, transcribed by me in archival ink.  My sister and I sew the messages into a colorful quilt that will radiate community love for years to come.  Racheltracks will be able to recuperate under your words of support -- and this will mean more to her than anything.

Handmade card that accompanied michelewin's quilt -- state of confusion and her sister make beautiful cards for the community quilt project

If you would like to help with the cost of making the quilt (time and material) here is a PayPal link - or message me for an address if you prefer to send a check.  $10/message is suggested -- although some give more to cover for those who cannot afford to donate.  If you can help, we would be so grateful.

Backing fabric for Ebby's quilt.  It's not too late to send a message for her quilt -- and it would be appreciated.  Ebby is by Bustergirl's side in the hospital right now.

Need inspiration?  Here are a few of racheltracks' messages so far:

May you be surrounded with blessings of light, love, and health as you are wrapped in this quilt.  May the weight of it remind you of all those whose lives you've touched.  Avilyn

May our caring speed your healing, and afterwards stay with you, wherever your tracks may lead.  Sidnora

As you are surrounded by our love, be blessed with dreams of healing peace.  Texasmom

As you heal under your new quilt, all patched-up with good thoughts & wishes & prayers and probably even a few jokes -- from people you know and some you probably don't -- remember you are never alone and that we are also all still sleeping under the same stars, and dreaming good dreams for you too.    Frederick Clarkson

When you fold yourself into this quilt, let the cares of the day fade away, and remember the loving arms of the community that holds you.  weck

Dearest racheltracks, Sending all the warmth of a summer day, with golden afternoon light, a lilting birdsong melody, and the soft fragrance of climbing roses nodding in the gentle breeze.  Love, Ebby

Boots says, "Thank you for supporting community quilts!"

NOTE: racheltracks has written a memoir of her life entitled, "Racheltracks".  It is available for Kindle and as a paperback.  As a young woman, she traveled a lot and did some interesting things.  I know she would be so pleased if you would get her book and learn more about her.  I finished it last night!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
