I was raised in the Baptist Church along with the Cherokee teachings of Spirituality and the Great Spirit.
As an adult I joined the Methodist Church. Was taking the steps to become a Minister. Then my accident happened. As I was convalescing I wondered where my Church members were? Long story short, I took a long hard look at my so called church family. They weren't my family at all. Where was the spirituality? The love?
At times it felt like Church had become an extension of the Country Club. One woman in particular became jealous of my children and I. More than once on the mornings that my sons were to be the Alter Boys, she and her children arrived early and her children would take my children's turn. Things like that began to build up and I decided this was not very Christian like, spiritual or giving. My family and I gave up organized religion and I turned my Spirituality towards my Cherokee beliefs.
For the Cherokee and most Native Americans, ceremonies offer opportunities for community worship, socialization and bonding. We pray for healing. We are thankful for blessings as well as asking for blessings.
Daily Kos Meet Ups are great, a lot of fun. It is so wonderful to finally look into the eyes of the people that we share our daily lives with here via comments and diaries. To hear their voice. To accept and to embrace one another lovingly.
As I attend more and more Meet Ups something wonderful is happening: We are sharing spiritually. We are truly bonding and loving beyond this wonderful place on the Internet.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I say look at the photos and feel the spirituality. The bonding. The love...
