smarx's quilt top
Our friend, Timaeus, is facing a big surgery on Sept. 4. He wrote about his fears in this diary, a request for prayers. And he said this to me:
I'm terrified beyond words, but am doing my best to Turn It Over. They need 8 hours or more, and not one but two surgeons, and a huge team, and they expect me to be on a ventilator in ICU after the operation. I need prayers to stay calm and faithful. There is said to be a good chance of success.
We want to have a community quilt done for him in time for him to take it with him to the hospital. Your words of love and support will go with him. In this way, we can help him get through this difficult experience.
UPDATE: We are 9 messages and $308 short for this quilt.
Serpents Choice's quilt
A community quilt is a form of friendship quilt. It contains messages of love and comfort from you transcribed by me in archival ink on muslin. My sister and I sew these messages into a colorful quilt that warms the heart as well as the body. Timaeus will have tangible proof that people are supporting him in good thought -- and the nurses in the hospital will know it, too.
Serpents Choice's quilt, detail
It takes time and material to make one of these quilts. If you would like to contribute to the cost of Timaeus' quilt, here is a PayPal link -- or message me for an address if you prefer a check. $15/message is suggested -- but some give more to cover for the messages of those who cannot afford to donate. All messages are welcome.
Serpents Choice's quilt, showing the backing
We hope to have smarx's quilt done by the end of the week. Fabric for FloridaSNMOM's just arrived today. We need three more messages for her... Messages are still being collected for paradox's quilt -- and I will be posting another diary for him later this week.
