A daily series, Connect! Unite! Act! seeks to create face-to-face networks in each congressional district. Groups regularly socialize but also get out the vote, support candidates and engage in other local political actions that help our progressive movement grow and exert influence on the powers-that-be. Visit us at Daily Kos every morning at 7:30 A.M. Pacific Time to see how you can get involved. The comment thread is fun and light-hearted, but we're serious about moving the progressive political agenda forward.

How well do you handle a changing of the guard at home?
One goes out another comes in
Some changes in life are huge - like getting married/divorced or quitting/getting fired from a job. Those are dramatic and you cannot help but notice that they rather take up your whole world view for a while. There are other changes though that are less dramatic but nonetheless affect the quality of your life. I am facing such a change now with a changing of the guard in my home.
After a year of domestic tranquility, my roommate is moving out. One is going out and another is coming in. I know who is moving out, but am not sure yet who is moving in. Come to think of it I am not sure I want anyone else to move in.
Will I have to post this for my next roomie?
I have gotten spoiled living with someone with whom I have not argued with once in the last year. Imagine that. Not one heated discussion or simmering bitterness. No missing rent or food. We have had an ideaologically perfect cohabitation that has extended down to the knives and forks...not even one argument over where in the drawer the knives and forks go.
Sometimes in life you have to share living spaces with near strangers in order to make ends meet. Sometimes you do it to help someone out. Sometimes you do it to help yourself out. This housemate worked out extremely well for me, but will the next one? I do not know.
Rental life is a crap shoot. You can win big and you can lose big. When you lose big every day is a hell at home. I have been lucky. I have not lost big in years. I am about due for that kind of a loss though after the last year of extremely pleasant and easy life at home.
.
How well do you adapt to domestic changes?

Announcing Asheville, North Carolina as the location
for our next Regional Event! 9.26.15
Asheville, N.C. is the destination for September 26, 2015! DKos Asheville, the In-Real-Life group under the leadership of randallt, has been setting the example for other IRL groups across the nation regarding registering people to vote, getting out the vote, having a state open thread and setting up strategy conferences for their region. Because of this impressive leadership we've asked randallt to be the State Leader for all of North Carolina. We've got important work to do on the ground there and randallt has shown he's the person to make that happen.
All states are welcome to attend this event and if you do you can expect to meet Markos Moulitsas in person, as well as some of the Daily Kos staff. More details regarding this regional event will be shared in the future so please stay tuned to Connect! Unite! Act!
For now, SAVE THE DATE and spread the word!
