Admit it: Dems suck at voting. If it weren't true, we'd win just about every election outside of Utah. The orange man would be merely the kOscar award statue and not also the Speaker of House.
Without opening a can of flames about why that is, let's just accept it and move on to today's voting agenda, wherein you - YES, YOU! - decide which diaries make the final round of voting.
Come below to VOTE FOR your favorites in the categories that require runoff voting-
Those who cannot use Flash may vote at the polling site HERE
All others come below for polls and the lists of nominees in all cats.
*NOTE:*
You only get ONE BALLOT for this run-off election, but you can vote for as many diarists and diaries that you want to see advance to the finals.
Your participation matters:
From exmearden
(The kOscar awards are) an excellent idea and one that I hope continues each year. Hopefully with a lot of collaboration so that just a few aren't carrying the major load...
Today's Editor is LaughingPlanet.
Editors notes:
• Shout out-
Let's give some love to smileycreek, without whom this year's awards frankly likely would not have happened. She has humbly tried to avoid the limelight, but I must point out that she has been quietly building all of these polls, helping other editors with questions, and posting diaries to help get people more involved.
She is a fine example of the service suggested by exmearden above, and she does it purely because she is a good person who wants to highlight the work of others. That is exactly the spirit upon which this series was founded. I hope others can get on board and support the effort to bring praise to the good work other people here have done over the past year.
• Mea culpa-
It has come to my attention that I inadvertently broke an unwritten rule at DKos a few weeks back. If you missed it, here is what I said at the time:
To avoid any further confusion, it seemed like the only way to undo the damage was to delete the previous diary and start over.
I personally take all blame for the communication shortfall, and any angst people will have about the decision to start again fresh.
Not to make excuses, but I was just hours removed from a huge move, had my mom visiting for the first time, and it was hours away from my birthday and X-mas. I was short on time and space in my head that day, and didn't think about how things could just be fixed after the fact. Maybe under different circumstances I might have been more open-minded.
To those still upset about that harried editorial decision, I apologize.
Moving on...
• How to vote in today's polls-
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT VOTING IN RUNOFF POLLS:
You may vote ONCE, for as many choices as you like.
Yes, these polls only will allow multiple selections. But you may only vote one time per poll.
Do not click VOTE until you have clicked all the selections you feel deserving of the final round of voting. The top 9 plus ties will make the final round.
Polls close on Jan 19th.
(Other [non-runoff] polls will be open for at least ten days, and close in early Feb.)
I have included photos I have taken since my move after each poll.
You MAY NOT jump ahead to see the next photo until you have voted in the poll above it (to which the pic is also linked).
If you have seen the crescent moon above SF without casting at least 3 ballots with some 15 or so selections on them, BOO ON YOU!
