Hello. Welcome to the insurrection (aka Weird Scenes Inside The Goldmine).
I keep hearing some form of the same question in relation to our fake Deity and his MAGAts. Those great patriots who stormed our Capitol, like wild monkeys, for failing to please them with total acquiescence to their interpretation of God’s demands. They climbed walls (with stairs only a few feet away), hung from doorways, and threw the people's business on the floor--exactly like monkey's flinging their shit.
But back to the common question. I can hear you ask what it is so, without further delay, here you go.
How can MAGAts not see what Agent Тяцмр is or what he's doing?
Oops, that's two questions. Relax, you won't be quizzed.
The answer to why we don’t hear the answer on MSM, I think, is that nervous and anxious eyes are of greater revenue than actual awareness. Just keep asking "guests" what's going on and explore the confusion. Democrats will pick up on the common phrases, language, and questions just like the FOX folks. Yes, ours are more factual and presented by credible people but a lot of it is speculation presented as truth and it isn't but the conversation is fun. We'll then repeat them to each other endlessly online and at parties, hoping someone can assure us it will all be okay, but nobody can credibly do that.
Since we Democrats are all enthused about empathy allow me to try empathizing with MAGAts and answer that eternal question. How?
Bill Moyers excellent interview with Dr Bandy Lee is a professional answer. Mine is merely an observation from a concerned citizen. Here it is:
Throughout the last twenty years we've been hearing horrific stories about widespread sexual, emotional, physical, and mental abuse within churches, families, schools, and the porn industry. Men are worse at some kinds of abuse and women are worse at others, generally, with some crossover. Now while everybody loves power over someone I am not saying that everybody is abusive so relax. But we know the effects of such abuse on human development and I'll talk about a few. You tell me what sounds familiar.
Submission to authority figures is one of the results of abuse. Victims become more susceptible to joining gangs or cults, especially cults as they include so-called "spiritual" reflections to the confusion which follows abuse. Of the cults they tend to favor dogmatic ones. Not only are those the common indoctrination but they also offer comforting rituals and expectations. Routines give victims of abuse consistency. They also allow one's mind to go numb or wander. Maybe to imagine freedom? Routines (like cleaning a weapon, for instance) provide a needed escape for victims of abuse.
I, and Dr Lee, are of the opinion that Agent Тяцмр is very aware of his devotees psychological conditions. This is why The Oligarch picked up on human trafficking early on and why using children's blood for pizza sauce, or whatever they thought, was easily accepted. QAnon is designed to call forth the memories and submerged pain of their abuse.
Guns not only provide mindless care (as a former Security Policeman for our Air Force I’m quite well versed in that) but also offer victims a false feeling of strength. They have the added "feel good" advantage of being a constitutional right. This means gun owners and NRA can get all indignant about regulating them. Democrats insist on certain bans being an answer so guns became another abortion issue. Lost in rhetoric. We really ought to change that but how is a different Diary.
Democrats tend to make fun of that feeling of strength. Many don’t really understand how much a gun makes one feel like a God (a theme for abuse victims). They become someone to be feared (which is how dogmatic religions relate to God). I would imagine being feared feels very good to an abused child. Even after they've grown up. Maybe that's also why rising to the defense of unborn children became obsessive? In any event, God didn't answer their prayers, in an immediate way, so they become determined to do it for Thou.
God's a busy Deity, after all.
Abuse victims understandably develop a simpleton's mind concerning the outside world. They were largely kept away from that world, so that they had less chance to tell, and lied to about it. They were told to not worry about what they don't understand because God will take care of it, anyway. What matters is devotion. We adults tend to lie to kids a lot, in a systemic and casual way, because it's easy or fun. Then we wonder why adults can no longer distinguish lies from truth...extreme obedience to authority, whether a hoax or tradition, makes for a sick society but both tribes use lies to do it.
Devotion, or loyalty, is honed into a sharp sword to gain favor with the authority. Loyalty doesn't cause a victim discomfort because non-victims of abuse are also trained to be loyal. Corporations need loyal workers so they can pay less. If we are really loyal we can become "managers" (who are paid even less for expanded hours and risk).
Victims learned quickly that, If their boss's cruelty was being dished out on someone else, they were safer. An authority that pretends love and favor is one they will do anything for. This is why many remain loyal to God despite being abused by God's Earthly Representatives. After all, God eventually answered their prayer when they got older. It sometimes just takes a while because we have something to learn. That's a lie which releases the abusers and puts the blame on life or the victim for not already having this valuable knowledge.
As I've alluded to, we obviously see this strategy played out in the main stream corporate structure, as well. I would contend that many folks, worldwide, feel abused simply by the structure of society. They feel helpless and vulnerable, surviving only by the grace of God, and see little aid from government. Certainly not the generations since Reagan. They see how government can actually spy on them and that is terrifying. Terrifying for them. Surveilling others is okay because that might have stopped their abuse.
My point, if all this is true, is that empathizing with them might be a necessary tonic.
I've heard few Democrats attempt to really understand MAGA voters (or gop in general). I do hear Democrats telling them how they should be thinking and making fun of them for not doing so (just like them). We Democrats do love our humor a bit on the cutting side (see Bill Maher).
Yes, I've been guilty of doing this as well. I found it wasn't working so went back to trying to understand people. This has taken a while but this is my conclusion (so far. I'm not Carl Jung).
Let me now ask you a question: Does schooling or making fun of abuse victims sound like something they'll respond well to? If not, and you think I'm making an interesting point, then could that be why so many people who agree with Democratic policies don't like Democrats?
Oops, that's two questions. Now you are being quizzed. Sorry.
While I insist these people receive repercussions for committing USA's biggliest crime I do not advocate they all receive the death penalty. I do for those who went inside the Capitol Building or took active measures, outside, to help them gain entry. For those who didn't I would suggest they may be damaged but not unredeemable. Like the rest of us. Possibly it's time to create massive cult debriefing centers and try to save them? We could include that service in addiction clinics.
I can't believe this is me saying this but outrage prevents the healing of crimes committed long ago. Humans only open up to real friends so, to paraphrase Jackson Browne’s Rock Me On The Water,
It's there our hope must lie
Jackson’s my God. It might be that not having a MAGAt friend means that the distrust between tribes will continue. Probably grow worse, in fact, as Dr Lee says.
This Diary has been four years in the making but that's the end of my theory. I hope it leads to some progress. Until then, Live long and prosper.
