Yeah, I know. Obama is cool. Fonzi was cool, too. But remember, Fonzi INVENTED jumping the shark. (That phrase has jumped itself, I know.)

But Obama also gives the American people too much credit. We're idiots. We consume. We eat whatever flavor of ice cream they put in front of us, as long as we say it's ice cream. ($10 USD to the first person who can tell me what flavor of ice cream I'm referring to, based on a seven year old blog post.)

I've become more militant in my backing of this administration as I watch Republicans act like idiots as they try to kill whatever the latest White House initiative is... oh yeah, health care reform. Bipartisanship? If I can allow an old friend to rear his ugly head for a sec, "Fuck bipartisanship." I was all about a new kind of politics for what... nine months or so, but if you don't want a new kind of politics, fine. Grab your ankles, Republicans.

(My apologies to those who take a personal offense at the insinuation that ankle-grabbing is a bad thing. We've had this discussion before...)

I posted this over at liberalstreefighter yesterday, and some of the thoughts that came to mind after reading comments and pondering life made me think that perhaps it would be okay to share some of this work with you. Many of you have seen the NYC pictures before.

As I said in response to a very nice comment by thief in that diary, the trip to NYC was the pinnacle of my existence as both an artist and an activist. This community... or rather, the community that this was a year ago... was 100% of the fuel that got me there, let me do what I needed to do, then brought me home.

Very cool.

As I also mentioned to thief, in my perfect world, I'd be doing that for a living... a blogging photojournalist. Maybe for '08.

What a place this has become. It makes me incredibly sad to pop back in here and see the sorry state of affairs... the general's dutiful lieutenants torpedoing the credibility of anyone who dares "step out of line." There was a day when we didn't hold our ideals in such contempt. There was a day when we didn't hold each other in such contempt. There was a day when the attempt to marginalize fellow Democrats by calling them Rovian Plants and Republican Tricksters only came from the rabble down here as opposed to from dKos lieutenants disguising them as innocent diaries. Ya know, I made a point of not flouncing when I left, yet I still get shit thrown at me by the chimpanzees of the blogworld because I offered no explanation. Damned if you do, etc etc. The truth of the matter is... er... was... that... er... ah, nevermind. Silly at this point.

I have seen the phrase Shut Your Fucking Pie-Hole attributed to me, and I take exception with that. (I believe I DID coin "Put THIS in Your Pie-Hole.") Well, "take exception" is a little strong. I mean, it sounds like me in tone, but the message is as far from theoria as you can get. If you've forgotten what my contribution was, ask someone with a userid number under whatever arbitrary userid number losers are quoting lately to make themselves feel superior. Or ask Pastor "The Body Isn't Even Cold Yet" Dan. (MY new userid number is like 37,834,327,381 or something.)

Ya know what bugs me about Jesus? Nothing. It's what many of his so-called followers do that bugs me. Jesus himself was an ass-kicking rebel as far as I'm concerned. Nevermind how much innocent blood the maniacs that call themselves Christians have spilled over the past two millennia, let's see what they've been up to in the news lately.

In the interest of full disclosure, I should add that as a young athelete back in the 70's, I was a Holy Cross Crusader. We had a really great football team. Our chant was "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!"
