WineRev’s Good and Goofy Notes
Watch for WineRev’s G&G notes in the comments to see what others went through, struggled with, and surmounted in the past. His G&G comments are mini Good News Roundups. You can find all his comments here, even today’s, once he posts it. Tech Tip: You can search for >>> in Roundups to quickly find his comments.
WineRev, last Sunday, November 19, 2023:
Coming to you from ON LOCATION at a motel in Western Wisconsin I see that the Inter-Tubes Tech Support Desk of DailyKos reaches here as well. I have tuned the radio dial just past “W-L-S” Chicago, Home of the Hits, to bring in the Gnuville Breakfast Brunch and Faraday Cage Room on this Sunday morning. Coffee, tea, mocha-cocoa are all hot sellers (HAH!) while a distinct OTHER crowd is swirling around mimosas and trying to guess the fruit of the day mixed in. (Well, at least those on their FIRST mimosa are; starting with #2, its just not that big a deal…..)
2thanks has revved up the rheostats, amped up the amperes, va-rooomed the voltage, and whipped up the wattage to bring us the Sunday Good News Round Up. Those of us arriving are welcome to take in unlimited pixels to their screens and then expand, tack on, comment wryly (or even whole-wheated-ly), digress, diverge, circle back and otherwise fill in this edition of the Good News Round Up.
Myself I am coming to you by remote WiFi as I have been hired to once again supply the pulpit and the sermon to go with it in the little town where I was house-sitting and cat-sitting over the past 3+ years. The pastor is taking a well-deserved, well-timed Sunday off just ahead of the holy-day/holiday Church crush (Advent plus Christmas plus getting ready for annual meeting in January), so I am here to expound on and apply one of the End of the World texts of Scripture to the daily lives of the folks in the pews. (I always fondly recall an old-pro pastor from my first congregation in Pennsylvania. Earl said in his (neighboring) parish he would have margin notes on his manuscript, and the most useful one over the years had proven to be, “Weak Point. Pound pulpit here!”) So the Morning Nugget list today is short because I need a wake up shower, breakfast, and to get going. Have a great morning everyone!
Science
Please share good science news with us! (Especially JSWT, health, environment.)
A good place to look for science news if you are waiting for the Sunday Roundup is the archive of Overnight News Digest. On Saturdays, the OND always focuses on science, though not all of it is devoted to what I would call Good Science News.
Need more good news?
… arhpdx posted a list of good news sites toward the top of a recent Roundup, or you can find that same list in my comment: Good News Sources. Thank you, arhpdx and Mokurai!

You can use the map’s zoom arrows to resize the view and focus on your pin to find neighbors. Please note that the Google Map, though convenient to operate, is visually inaccurate because, among other issues, it enlarges North America and shrinks Africa [Maps present a distorted view of the world by kos].

Tech Talk for Kosacks
- Load-More Workaround: On a desktop or laptop, to banish the Daily Kos Load More buttons, click this link, which opens the main Daily Kos page and shuts off the Load More buttons at the same time. You must Reload any open Daily Kos pages. After that, you’re good to go, but you may need to come back here and click that link again in a few weeks. According to the DK Help Desk, the “Load More” option also resets the user back to the display of the old-style, React comments.
- Got a Daily Kos tech question? Let us know. No question is too basic.
- Solved a tech question recently? Please feel free to brag in the comments.

- Good News Roundups and you.
- How are you resisting?
- How are you supporting Democratic candidates?

A Little Bit About Me
Like many Gnusies, I’ve had a whirlwind weekend with family visiting and visits. Such events have kept this diary brief and will limit my participation in it. Happy Thanksgiving Week, Everybody!
Our Roundup is almost open!
Thank you for fighting for truth and justice with all us Gnusies! 40% of our Readers don’t visit every day, 50% of us do, and 10% are here for the first time! We all do what we can. For 5 years, we’ve shared positive news, laughed, organized, resisted, rebelled, revolted without being revolting, relied, rested, mentored, created, crossed rivers, chewed our cud, puffed methane out both ends, and laughed. Here’s looking at you, kid, and standing upwind!
As always, please share more Good News than I can find or provide.
This is a group diary, and by my power I declare this Good Gnus Salo(o)n open! Let the good-news sharing and community building begin!
Power with, not power over ❤️ ✊ ❤️
2thanks (he, him)
