LeMay—America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington had a special display Porsche at 75: Decades of Excellence.
According to the Museum:
“Whether it be in road cars or racing cars, Porsche has achieved excellence with instantly recognizable style, following the spirit and principles of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche and his son, Ferry Porsche.”
Dr. Porsche was an electrical engineer who designed cars, aircraft engines, military vehicles, and other products for Austro-Daimler, Daimler-Benz, and Steyr. He started his own design and engineering firm in 1930. The post-war Porsche company was led by Ferry Porsche (1909-1998).
1955 Porsche 356 Speedster
The Speedster was created to meet American market demands for a lower priced car. It has a 1488 cc 4-cylinder engine with 70 horsepower. It has a 4-speed transmission.
1961 Porsche 356 B
This style was introduced in 1959. It has a 1720 cc 4-cylinder engine with 75 horsepower. It has a 4-speed transmission.
1964 Porsche 356 C
This was the final generation of the 356. It has a 1682 cc 4-cylinder engine with 75 horsepower. It has a 4-speed transmission.
1967 Porsche 912
It has a 1582 cc 4-cylinder engine with 90 horsepower. It has a 5-speed transmission.
1969 Porsche 911 S Soft-Window Targa
It has a 1991 cc 6-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower. It has a 5-speed transmission.
