Timaeus' quilt, detail
Our friend, LoreleiHI, suffers from a number of physical problems that have disabled her -- hearing loss, Ehlers-Danlos, hypothyroidism. She also suffers terribly from PTSD and depression. Moreover, nothing has come easily to her in recent time -- she's been unfortunate in love, employment, and now she is coping with homelessness. This woman's life has been turned upside down.
But LoreleiHI is a survivor. She's written to me that she has been busy making appointments to get the help she needs. She wants me to assure everyone that she and her little service dog are in a safe place for now. And she just got her handicapped tags for her car! When I asked her what she would like me to say about her situation, she asked me to quote this message she sent to Nurse Kelley (and you'll see it is more about caring for others, not just herself):
I already feel guilty as sin for what people have already done. (Although to be perfectly honest I'd be a puddle of squee at a laptop, used or what have you. Lmao. But you just have to see my wish list to know that. Ah, fantasies.)
If you want to post a diary, please tell people about the limits SSI/SSDI places on the monetary assets its applicants can hold--it came close. And that I'm not the only one in a situation like this. Maybe regional communes or tiny houses? To make something like that real... And there's lots of land here. Or Detroit. Or both. Why can't Daily Kos make that happen? The site as a whole? It's certainly within our grasp! Give up NN for one year and help all the people who can't come! FFS!
Sorry. It's just...yes, more and better Democrats. But it should also be social justice. I came when I was on the high end. You see very different things.
So we are here tonight to offer LoreleiHI the emotional and spiritual support of a community quilt -- something she can carry with her to remind her that she is in the hearts and minds of many friends, across the country. Let's help her weather this perfect storm of misfortune and bolster her spirit to claim a better future - in no uncertain terms!
FloridaSNMOM's quilt
What is a community quilt? It is a colorful quilt containing messages of love and support from you, transcribed by me in archival ink on muslin. It is a community hug in a warm blanket, something LoreleiHI can wrap herself in anytime she feels alone or overwhelmed. She can cry into it, cuddle it, rest under it, and gain strength.

It takes time and material to make a community quilt -- and my sister and I make our small living from making them. Please leave a message regardless -- but if you would also like to support the quilt with a donation, here is a PayPal link -- or message me for an address if you prefer a check. $15/message is suggested but some people give more to support messages for those who cannot afford to donate. We are deeply grateful for any and all support!
