The First Lady, Mrs Laura Bush, purportedly wrote an op-ed today in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). It's a call for democracy to prevail in Myanmar (aka: Burma). You can read it for yourself here.
I'm struck by her statement:
The public mood is said to be "a mixture of fear, depression, hopelessness, and seething anger."
Dear Mrs. Bush. Please consider looking in your own backyard. Between your husband's reign of terror, corruption, fear mongering & lies, and the sad prospects of a new president who can clean up his messes, a hell of a lot of Americans are experiencing "a mixture of fear, depression, hopelessness and seething anger", as you've quoted.
So, though I do agree with you that Myanmar should be free, I believe we have our own freedoms being trounced upon. How about slapping good ol' George on the back of the head for us when next you feel like trying to make a difference in the World.
