Australia has been struggling with brush fires for a while now. New South Wales is getting most of the attention, but South Australia and the southern part of Western Australia are also dealing with massive fires and extended heat.

Our meetup is today.

WEATHER: Yes, it's raining. The air temperatures are above freezing-right now I'm getting 36 degrees for Minneapolis-and it is projected to be above freezing for most of the day. When I look out the window I see a lot of the snow has melted. Weird to see rain in mid-December.

Good morning everybody!

Last week we had a poll for our first meetup and Harriet Brewing Tap Room was the overwhelming winner. I'd like to do this again in January (maybe on Inauguration Day??) but we'll worry about January later.

ETA: I have just gone through messages-if you sent me something either to my personal Kosmail or to the group, you should have an invitation to the group. If i somehow managed to miss you-please Kosmail me again and I'll make sure the invite goes out.

I've named the group Twin Cities Kossacks but anybody is welcome-suburbs, outstate, neighboring states, I don't care.

If you've sent me a Kosmail about TC Kossacks, you have been added to the group. Right now I'm the only admin-if you want to be an admin, let me know. I think we need at least 2.

I'm trying to keep the first one free-no admission, no parking fees, transit friendly, eating places nearby for those that want it but no obligations. I don't want anybody to think they can't afford to attend! Please hop below the squiggle for details.

LATE night last night for the Severe Weather Gang. (Somebody gave us a name last year-Weatherdude and his **. Anybody remember? Severe Weather Gang is a boring name.)

The threat has shifted both East and North-yesterday the SPC moderate area (15% chance) was mostly Wisconsin, and today the moderate area includes Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro area is on the edge of the 15% warned area. La Crosse is right in the middle of it.
