Alma's quilt
DarkHawk98 has lung cancer. A surgery for the cancer is on hold because he developed pneumonia in his good lung. Let's give him some community support to help him heal and get him through all his treatment. He's a really nice guy, he's one of us, and we can help! You can learn more about what he has been going through in this diary that he just published tonight.
So far, we are 10 messages short and the quilt is paid for! Don't be shy!
Alma's quilt, showing the backing
A community quilt contains messages of love and support from you for someone facing an illness or other hardship. The lift that comes from so much love is incredible. Oftentimes, in our society, we just don't know what to do when we hear someone is very ill. Well, this is something very positive we can do. DarkHawk98's quilt is going to support him more than you know. Our words will all be there for him, anytime he needs them. The loving energy will flow back to you, too! It is just the way it works!
AntKat (Kathleen) with her quilt, may she rest in peace. Photo by AntKat's sister, Karen
I've been asked to let you know what AntKat's quilt meant to her and her family. I received this message from her mother:
Dear Sara, I am Kathleen's Mom,, Nancy. The three of us live pretty close to each other. I was able to see Karen and Kathleen a good bit. I wanted to say how grateful I feel in knowing she was so loved. She made her Blog the center of her world, in doing so she gained a world of wonderful friends who thought like she did on many topics. Please let everyone know how much we appreciate all the Love and caring you have sent via your Blog. Karen is the strong one in the family and has held us together through it all ... Thanks again to everyone. The Quilt is beautiful and such a wonderful idea. GOD BLESS YOU AND EVERYONE WHO WORKED ON IT AND ALL WHO SIGNED IT. I really think she was holding on till it arrived. Thanks again, Love Nancy

If you can help with a donation toward the cost of materials and time for this quilt, my sister and I would be so appreciative. We make our small living doing this work. Here is a PayPal link or message me for an address if you prefer checks. $10/message is suggested -- but some people kindly give more to cover for those message givers who cannot afford to donate. Thank you for anything you can do.
