Are you creative, crafty, or a curmudgeon when it comes to holiday decorations? Have you got a favorite ornament? What have you done to your house or tree, what do you refuse to do, and what do you wish you could do?
I really did have a brilliant idea for homemade Christmas ornaments this year, and was even going to bring one of my creations to the Daily Kos Holiday party this Saturday. But I'm not particularly creative or crafty, and as this proposed project involved decoupage and actual talent I just ended up with glue all over the dog and strips of orange paper matted in my hair. Never mind. Instead I came up with this ---->
See, they're acupuncture needles stuck into a Christmas ornament. It's unique (and, ok, uniquely creepy) and I didn't even have to use a glue gun. Since everyone was invited to bring a decoration for the tree I thought I might as well represent with my choice (I can't wait to see what Glen the Plumber contributes). I think they're going to be thrilled at HQ when they see it -- thrilled they didn't put me in charge of office decorations, that is.
I did come up with the perfect hairstyle for the party, though. Add in my figbash-awarded BOOB (Benevolent Order of the Orange Boa) and I'm good to go.
When it comes to decorating the outside of the house we just keep up a year-round string of lights. Once a year we climb up on the peaked roof and pNut holds me by the ankles while I hang upside down to replace the burned out bulbs.
If I lived in the suburbs I'd probably resort to the Ditto Decorating Approach. Yeah, what he said.
On the other end of the spectrum we have the Times Square approach to decorating.
File this one under Kill My Neighbor:
What kind of holiday decorating are you doing this year?
