We are still just working on Nominations right now. Voting for the eventual winners will happen in polls attached to future diaries.
Below the fold is the list of the categories and instructions about making nominations.
•
It is up to all of us to determine the nominees in the comments.
•
If nothing else, please read the Rules for Nominating section below before posting comments about your nominees and/or confusion. There are only 4 rules; it's very simple, honest.
This is already the tenth (10th!) in the Daily kOscars™ diary series.
The 1st was a discussion about the idea.
The 2nd asked about what categories people would like to see.
The 3rd determined the categories.
The 4th began the Nominations process. (163 comments)
The 5th was a surprise rogue diary by cfk in support of these efforts.
The 6th kept the nominations going, listing those who already made the cut. (110 comments)
Ditto on the 7th (115 comments)
The 8th saw PDNC discuss the comments & series categories. (142 comments)
The 9th kept honing in on those series & comments categories ideas. (117 comments)
Big news!:
Best Non-political Diary is officially resurrected! Due to a buzz about a polling option (h/t Pluto) that circumvents DKos' silly 1 diary/day, 1 poll/diary format, we can keep our number of categories a bit larger than we initially thought. There is a test poll below; if it works, things are looking good!
For now, enjoy nominating additional diaries for that category that was shelved for the past 1.5 diaries.
Here's the list of Diary Categories for your 2009 Daily kOSCARs™
1. Diary of the Year
2. Diarist of the Year
3. Front Page Editor of the Year
4. Best Good Works diary
5. Snark Diary of the Year
6. Best Action Diary
7. Best Visual Diary - Photo or Video
8. Best Teaching Diary
9. Best Investigative Diary
10. Hunter Award for Rant of the Year

Re-nominating those diaries listed isn't necessary; they have already qualified for the vote in the category listed.

will be key to all searches.
.
How this works:
For the next week or so, Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse & I will post similar diaries soliciting submissions. In the comments, you leave your ideas for nominations for various categories.
The comments should look like this:
Best Visual Diary: (3+ / 0-)
My Graveside Encounter with President Obama by Al Rodgers

Simple enough?
Please, please, use only that format for your nomination(s).
One nomination per comment.
Rules for Nominating
• Don't nominate yourself. It was already done 1st by Trix. It was funny the 1st time. If you mean it for real, well, that's kinda sad, don'tcha think? Find a friend or at least a sockpuppet to nominate yourself if you must.
• Focus squarely on 2009 only. No exceptions.
• Make the category the title of your comment and limit yourself to just one nominee per comment. The "voting" (comment recommends) will be easier if we all stick to that formula.
• Have fun. This is not life or death stuff. Never forget Rule #62: Don't take yourself too damn seriously!
• • NOTE:
Please do not comment in this diary about diary series or comment nominations!
Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse, bless her heart, has volunteered to handle the realm of comments & Dairy Series. She will post a(nother) nominations diary soon, we promise.
•

If you don't know where to begin, I suggest starting here.
I hope we're clear on how this works by now.
- Make a nomination in the comments
- People recommend nominations in the comments
- People vote on nominees in the poll(s)
Item 3 above happens no sooner than a week from now, more likely 2 weeks until the 1st voting diary, which will be called "VOTE: Daily kOscars™."
If a nomination was made, but people don't recommend the comment, it does not make the poll for the final vote.
Sample Poll:
(I have my fingers crossed!)

Update I by LaughingPlanet on Wed Feb 10, 2010 at 1:05:45 PM PST
The Poll seems to be working great.
WHOOPEE!!!
I can speak for PDNC that we are thrilled about this.
Thanks again, Pluto!
Thanks for keeping the ideas coming.
But, again:
PLEASE, if you are stopping by to make a nomination, take the extra 60 seconds to look for something in the diary categories!
Putting up your favorite writer's name takes about a minute.
It take a few seconds longer to look for their work and including links and nominations for the various other categories.

Update II by LaughingPlanet on Wed Feb 10, 2010 at 1:15:00 PM PST
I forgot to mention that I'll be gone for a while.
(Not a GBCW, sorry to disappoint my detractors).
PDNC will post next week about nominees in the series & comment categories.
I will try to post once, maybe twice more before closing the polls for candidates.
TAKE HEED:
• Spread the word.
• Do some research.
Once the polls are created, they cannot be edited.
We can only post so many times soliciting nominations.
As the saying goes...
Speak now (or next week) or forever hold your peace.
