Severe Weather Liveblog is a collective effort to keep Kossacks safe when a large severe weather outbreak takes place. These blogs will be posted as needed, based on user-interaction (comments) and duration of the severe weather event.
If you have emergency information that needs to be added to the diary (reports of tornadoes on the ground, emergency information telephone numbers, etc.), please indicate so in the subject line of the comment.
Right now, aside from myself, the editors of Severe Weather Liveblog are boatsie and Predictor. If you'd like to help, drop me a message.
Please keep in mind that any Severe Weather Liveblogs posted are not places for tasteless cracks at other people's expense. Post cheap political/social shots towards those affected at your own risk.
We're getting into the thick of the severe weather now. There have been numerous severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings this afternoon, and the storms are only going to get stronger as the night progresses.
We've had one confirmed tornado tonight with the storm that straddled the Kansas/Oklahoma. No reports of damage or injuries right now, but I'll update the diary if any come through.
The thunderstorm that produced the tornado earlier this afternoon.
I'll continue to update this diary as needed, as long as I can keep up with the weather.

Updates
UPDATE 1: (749PM CST)
There is a line of severe thunderstorms working its way northeastward through Illinois right now. Trained storm spotters report quarter sized hail and 60+MPH winds with this line of storms. The ironic thing is that 20 miles north of here, it's snowing/freezing raining.
UPDATE 2: (815PM CST)
Tornado warning for Pike County, IL:
The SPC is about to issue a tornado watch for eastern Oklahoma and a sliver of northeastern Texas.
UPDATE 3: (836PM CST)
Well this is random. Severe thunderstorm warning for Washington, Allegheny, Greene and Westmoreland Counties in Pennsylvania, as well as Ohio County in West Virginia until 1015PM EST.
The NWS says this storm has the potential to create quarter sized hail.
UPDATE 4: (843PM CST)
Another tornado warning up in extreme SE Kansas, moving into Missouri:
UPDATE 5: (854PM CST)
Tornado warning for Cherokee/Crawford Cos. in KS and Jasper/Barton Cos. in MO are still valid for the powerful storm crossing the KS/MO border right now. This is the same storm that caused the confirmed tornado a few hours ago on the KS/OK border. Here's an animation of this storm from the last 45 mins or so.
UPDATE 6: (918PM CST)
From the storm that won't die...new tornado warning out for Barton, Cedar and Dade Counties in Missouri until 1000PM CST.
Here's the impressive radar:
And here's the storm velocity, showing winds moving towards the radar (red) and away from the radar (gray/green/blue shades). When the red/green are right next to each other, it shows rotation in the storm and a possible tornado. This storm has an impressive signature, and I have a feeling that by daybreak, the news will not be good.
UPDATE 7: (929PM CST)
87 MPH wind reported in Hannibal, MO.
Also, there are two new tornado warnings...one for Labette Co., KS and one for Miller/Morgan Cos. in Missouri.
Here's the Labette Co., KS one, following on the heels of The Storm That Won't Die™.
