triciawyse's quilt, showing the backing
Our friend, high uintas, is losing her last living relative, her dear sister, to dementia. The heart ache and anguish this causes her is unbearably painful. They have always been very close, these sisters, but the day will soon come when high uintas' sister does not know her any more.
From her diary:
I always knew that my sister would go before me barring some accident or terrible illness, she is ten years older after all. I just never thought she would leave this way. I never thought she would forget my husband's name or the word "cigarette" even though she wants one now. She has even forgotten how to write.
Memory is such a powerful thing, it is amazing what she does remember. She gets the little details right but she messes it up somehow. She remembers how I ended up getting my little dog Joey, but she believes that she was there when she wasn't. I chock it up to her incredible imagination, she visualizes everything so vividly that sometimes she imaginations herself into situations she knows about but had no part of.
Let us ease high uintas' pain with loving words and let her know that she has us. We are here for her.
We are short 11 messages and $112 for this quilt.
triciawyse's quilt
What is a community quilt? It is a quilt bearing messages of love and support from you, transcribed by me with archival ink on muslin. My sister and I sew the messages into a colorful quilt that provides more than just bodily warmth, it radiates the warmth of love. The love never washes out, either... This will be a supportive keepsake that high uintas can wrap in whenever she needs a hug.
Unit Zero with his quilt -- read about it here
It takes time and material to make community quilts -- and it is our small living. If you can contribute toward high uintas' quilt as well as give a message, that would be so kind. Here is a PayPal link -- or message me for an address should you prefer a check. $15/message is suggested -- although some give more to cover for those who give messages but cannot afford to donate. All messages are welcome -- they will be so healing for high uintas, believe me!

Newpioneer's quilt top is only lacking its border. We will be finishing that quilt this week. Meteor Blades' messages have all been transcribed on to the star and that quilt top will be constructed next.
