WineRev’s Good and Goofy Notes
Watch for WineRev’s G&G notes in the comments to see what others went through, struggled with, and surmounted in the past. His G&G comments are mini Good News Roundups. You can find all his comments here, even today’s, once he posts it. Tech Tip: You can search for >>> in Roundups to quickly find his comments.
WineRev, last Sunday: Huh? What……? What time IS IT? Lets see…..in bed around 10:15…...up once around 3…..Definitely time for some more shut eye. Cat will likely arrive somewhere between 5:30 and 6, so the usual: Yawning…..bathroom…...kitchen…...turn on coffee pot from last night after taking a cup for the microwave (early heat; later heat.) Feed cat as needed. Start in on Round Up and History Corner.
ALL of which is happening before your very eyes (thanks to the magic of the Internet and your very own Pixel Screen.) But the Wake Up was 6:50…..a powerful re-assertion of A) the Cat is sleeping in, and/or B) my natural rhythm is Evening Person, so that, as was long Usual, I have lived for decades by the theological proposition: “If God had meant for us to be Morning People, He would have put dawn at 10:00 am.” (A verse that SHOULD BE in the Bible; I was just born a LITTLE late before submissions closed.)
So…...here now. Still yawning. The Gnuville Breakfast Brunch is still strong on the Breakfast Menu so coffee, tea, mocha-cocoa and Mimosas are on tap. C’mon over for a mug or fluted glass, put in your order for cereal cold or hot, and/or breakfast proteins from eggs to not-eggs, take a plate for the “just out of the oven” breakfast baked goodies, and head for the Lounge. There there are attendants who like to say “there, there”, reclining chairs, sofas, wingbacks, futons, lots of side tables for landing drinks and plates. There is Wi-Fi (your choice of whether you think that should be hyphenated or not), and each other for comments, questions, snickers, expansions, questions, answers, links. As 2thanks noted, we are open and happy to have you here, and we thank 2 thanks for unlocking the Sunday doors!
Science
Please share good science news with us! (Especially JSWT, health, environment.)
A good place to look for science news if you are waiting for the Sunday Roundup is the archive of Overnight News Digest. On Saturdays, the OND always focuses on science, though not all of it is devoted to what I would call Good Science News.
Need more good news?
… arhpdx posted a list of good news sites toward the top of a recent Roundup, or you can find that same list in my comment: Good News Sources. Thank you, arhpdx and Mokurai!

Our map of Gnuville: 863 of us have shared our global locations!
To leave your mark, please Reply in the comments to tljdk or the map-building comment. Please indicate only your general location, NOT street number and street. (Please persist, we are volunteers.)

You can use the map’s zoom arrows to resize the view and focus on your pin to find neighbors. Please note that the Google Map, though convenient to operate, is visually inaccurate because, among other issues, it enlarges North America and shrinks Africa [Maps present a distorted view of the world by kos].

Tech Talk for Kosacks
- Load-More Workaround: On a desktop or laptop, to banish the Daily Kos Load More buttons, click this link, which opens the main Daily Kos page and shuts off the Load More buttons at the same time. You must Reload any open Daily Kos pages. After that, you’re good to go, but you may need to come back here and click that link again in a few weeks. According to the DK Help Desk, the “Load More” option also resets the user back to the display of the old-style, React comments.
- Got a Daily Kos tech question? Let us know. No question is too basic.
- Solved a tech question recently? Please feel free to brag in the comments.

How to Resist: Do Something …
My political mentor asked me to include the following:
UNFPA deplores the loss of life in Israel, Gaza, and the West Bank. Right now, a humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Gaza. Fuel, water, and electricity are running out, and the health system is on the brink of collapse. Women, girls, and children are among those most at risk.
Will you rush a humanitarian gift to provide lifesaving care to women and girls surviving this crisis and emergencies around the world?
About UNFPA: UNFPA is the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency. Our mission is to deliver a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled.
We promote gender equality and empower women, girls and young people to take control of their bodies and their futures. We work with partners in more than 150 countries to provide access to a wide range of sexual and reproductive health services. Our goal is ending unmet need for family planning, preventable maternal death, and gender-based violence and harmful practices including child marriage and female genital mutilation by 2030.

Action Steps from Gnusies
Six of our Good News writers regularly post a panoply of fantastic action steps in their Good News Roundups. If you don’t see a way to become active that suits your personality, your funds, or your time, please review their most recent diaries for many different options to volunteer and/or donate:
On Daily Kos:
We welcome comments in Roundups every day regarding:
- National or local Good News.
- Links, stories, music, videos, quotes, tweets. (No tweets or images of the saffron chlamidiot, please.)
- Your resistance activity.
In my Sunday smorgasbord Roundups, I especially welcome the following types of comments:
- Who won YOUR week?
- Questions about Daily Kos tech issues or our map.
- Good News Roundups and you.
- How are you resisting?
- How are you supporting Democratic candidates?
- Please let’s stick to Good News today, no mews or databases.
In the comments of all Roundups, we do not welcome Grammar Police or Debbie Downers.

A Little Bit About Me
I went to two Democratic Party meetings yesterday. Debbie Dingell spoke about the importance of her district at the first one, which was in the mid afternoon. She describes Michigan as a purple state. We have a lot of Democrats in this district, and we need to GOTV. Big time. The party opened a new office near me. I was surprised to see Michigan’s Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist there. As some of my Readers may recall, I worked on Garlin’s campaign for Detroit City Clerk in 2017. We greeted each other warmly, and he introduced me to his aide as one of his OG supporters from that campaign. I thought that was funny. And enjoyable. I was able to chat with him for a moment. And he gave a great speech.
The second was a fundraiser for the Washtenaw County Sheriff. If elected, she will be the first female county sheriff in Michigan. She is progressive. More about that later. I’ve asked them for an ActBlue page, and I should get that this week.
Our Roundup is almost open!
Thank you for fighting for truth and justice with all us Gnusies! 40% of our Readers don’t visit every day, 50% of us do, and 10% are here for the first time! We all do what we can. For 5 years, we’ve shared positive news, laughed, organized, resisted, rebelled, revolted without being revolting, relied, rested, mentored, created, crossed rivers, chewed our cud, puffed methane out both ends, and laughed. Here’s looking at you, kid, and standing upwind! Beginners, you are cordially invited to comment!
As always, please share more Good News than I can find or provide.
This is a group diary, and by my power I declare this Good Gnus Salo(o)n open! Let the good-news sharing and community building begin!
Power with, not power over ❤️ ✊ ❤️
2thanks (he, him)
