Our Democracy is Under Attack from Cowards and Traitors in GOP
I can now see the evil plan that Trump, Steven Miller, and other sycophants orchestrated before the elections. I think they saw the internal polls and came to the conclusion that they will lose the elections. This is when they came up with an evil design where Trump can stay in power by questioning the results and pushing conspiracy theories through the local, state, federal, and eventually the US supreme court.
Trump assumed that the Republican-controlled legislatures in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia will conspire against the will of the voters and support him.
Trump and his sycophants were convinced that all the Federal judges he appointed would ignore the constitution and democratic principles and vote in his favor.
The corrupt Whitehouse was convinced that Senators and Congresspeople in the House of Representatives would ignore all morals, principles, and constitutional responsibilities to keep him in power.
Just like 2016, Trump was sure he would lose. This is probably the reason why he started sowing doubts about democracy even before the elections. Trump lied about absentee ballots, made false claims about frauds that were disproven, and exaggerated minor technical issues with mailing ballots. He made all these assertions and allegations before the election to prepare us for the post-election fight.
Trump’s corruption, deceit, and dishonesty machine have been in full-display since November 3rd. His administration almost got away with the perfect crime of stealing the election by overthrowing millions of votes in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada, and Georgia. If not for some patriots in the GOP, Trump would have gotten away with his evil plan of overthrowing the will of the people and replacing it with unfaithful and corrupt electors.
Here are some of the ‘profiles in courage’ of cowards and traitors that are putting Trump above Party, and Party above Country.
GOP Cowards
Countless cowards in the GOP ignored their sworn oath to uphold the constitution by not standing up to President Trump’s treacherous attempts to sabotage. As of November 21st, 2020, about two weeks after Biden was announced as the President-Elect by all major news networks, very few GOP congresspeople openly congratulated Biden. Most of the GOP Senators and GOP Representatives in the House of Representatives have tried to deflect the questions with silly conspiracy theories and outstanding litigations.
GOP Traitors
I reserve my harshest criticism to the following GOP leaders who are trying to openly support Donald Trump’s failing attempts to sabotage the US elections. They are not just cowards for running away from their constitutional obligation to protect our democracy. They are traitors and co-conspirators in enabling Trump’s crusade against US democracy.
Lindsey Graham has committed many unforgivable sins on behalf of Trump, but I thought he was just a pawn or a sycophant until now. It was revealed last week that he called Georgia’s Security of State and asked him to disqualify legal ballots that were cast against Biden. He also called Michigan legislators and other elected officials to do his part to stop the certification process by states.
Monica Palmer and William Hartmann - racists in the Wayne County Board of Canvasser tried to stop the certification process by initially refusing to certify results. Before the vote, Palmer said she would approve every community in Wayne County, except Detroit. Why Detroit? Because it has a majority African American population, and they voted for Biden.
Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel wins this week’s award for the ‘Most Treasonous, Anti-democratic GOP leader’ for her attempts to sabotage US democracy. Ronna McDaniel urged the Michigan board to pause certification of election results. The courts in Michigan struck down Trump’s lawsuits for they lacked merit. Ronna McDaniel’s outreach to the Michigan legislature was particularly treacherous because this is a frivolous attempt to sow doubt in the American democracy.
"To simply gloss over these irregularities now without a thorough audit would only foster feelings of distrust among Michigan's electorate," the letter reads, echoing talking points from the Trump campaign.
This week’s ‘Traitor in Chief’ Award goes to…..(drumroll….)
Mitch McConnell
We all knew that Mitch McConnell was a sniveling turd basket for the last 12 years. He has done everything he can to obstruct Obama, stole at least 2 SCOTUS seats from Americans, and willfully supported Trump’s conspiracies, corruptions, and obstructions. He has committed many crimes as the Majority leader of the US Senate, but I thought his worst crime was his shameful management of Trump’s impeachment. He did not let any witnesses, conducted sham proceedings, and whipped his senators to force them to acquit the treasonous President.
I was so wrong…..
While his conduct in the last 12 years was abhorrent, disgusting, and shameful; I assumed there was some political calculus behind it. I kept trying to understand his motivations ‘He was trying to please his base’, ‘He is afraid Trump will put up a primary opponent to him if he did not comply’, ‘He just wants to turn a blind eye to Trump’s corruptions’, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I am convinced that Mitch McConnell is a heinous person with no modicum of a soul — but I assumed that he was ‘just doing his job’ to keep his job as the Majority leader. While all this behavior was appalling and disgusting, it had a calculus behind it. However, his behavior after Trump’s loss in the 2020 election has no basis for justification. He hides behind totally bogus statements like these
The GOP leader asserted that “in the United States of America, all legal ballots must be counted, any illegal ballots not be counted,” and that the process should be “transparent or observable by all sides” and that the courts would handle disputes, reprising a statement he made on Twitter last week.
“illegal ballots”? Seriously??? — is this the reason why Amy McGrath lost to you? because of illegal ballots?
“transparent and observable”??? — are you stupid or just acting like one? do you know how the ballots are counted? What if we claim the “opaque and unobservable” nature of counting votes in South Carolina for the loss of Jamie Harrison against your co-conspirator Lindsey Graham?
Mitch McConnell’s attacks of fraud are not just offenses against countless poll workers, election officials, and hard-working citizens who put their own lives on the line during the pandemic to support US democracy; McConnell is attacking our democracy itself. He is not just attacking the democracy that employed him, is accusing the democracy that has employed 52 other GOP senators and he is ambushing on the two hundred and forty-four-year-old democracy. He is not just a co-conspirator in Trump’s attack’s crimes against US democracy, he is a willing commander taking up arms to shoot down 80 million voters who voted for Biden.
There are countless other traitors - Bill Barr, Lamar Alexander, Rob Portman, Mike Pompeo, Rudy Guiliani, Fox News, OANN, NewsMax, to name a few. I think this article will be too long if I list all the GOP traitors and cowards.
I want to end on a positive note by highlighting the profiles in courage, Patriots in GOP that are putting country over politics.
GOP pro-democracy Patriots
Chris Krebs released a statement, and countless elections and cybersecurity officials working for the Whitehouse released a statement vouching for our democracy knowingly jeopardizing his job and his life on the line.
"The November 3rd election was the most secure in American history. Right now, across the country, election officials are reviewing and double-checking the entire election process prior to finalizing the result," the Election Infrastructure Government Coordinating Council and the Election Infrastructure Sector Coordinating Executive Committees said.
The group, which includes federal employees working in the Trump administration, added in boldfaced type:
"There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised."
Trump fired Chris Krebs for his patriotic stance supporting American democracy. Chris responded with a tweet, “Honored to serve. We did it right. Defend Today, Secure Tomorrow. #Protect2020."
Brad Raffensperger has faced intense pressure from Republicans from all levels of government, the President of the United States, and a particularly heinous traitor (whom I will talk about later in this article). Brad and his wife even received death threats from angry Republicans for doing his job. Despite all the risks and attempts, he showed a steadfast commitment to democracy, integrity, and morals.
“I’m a conservative Republican. Yes, I wanted President Trump to win. But as secretary of state, we have to do our job,” he said in an interview with the Guardian. “I’m going to walk that fine, straight line with integrity. I think that integrity still matters.”
Michigan Lawmakers have faced intense pressure from media, GOP legislators, and Republican Congresspeople. When none of these worked and looked like they might certify the elections lawfully, President Trump invited them to Whitehouse and pressured them personally.
Despite all this pressure, After the meeting, Shirkey and Chatfield said in a joint statement they had "not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in Michigan."
State and Federal Judges have ignored their political affiliations and personal biases to rule in favor of democracy. Trump’s lawsuits have been overthrown and ‘laughed out of court’ by patriotic judges at all levels of the judicial system. Addressing the former New York City mayor, who was parroting Trump's
lie about massive voter fraud, US District Court Judge Matthew Brann posed a devastating question at the hearing on Tuesday.
"You're alleging that the two individual plaintiffs were denied the right to vote. But at bottom, you're asking this court to invalidate more than 6.8 million votes, thereby disenfranchising every single voter in the Commonwealth. Could you tell me how this result could possibly be justified?"
On Saturday, the judge effectively answered his own question by dismissing the lawsuit and saying,
"this Court has been presented with strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations...and unsupported by evidence."
"It is not in the power of this Court to violate the Constitution," Judge Matthew Brann of the US District Court in the Middle District of Pennsylvania wrote on Saturday in a withering decision, hours after the final round of filings in the case came in.
The judge wholeheartedly rejected the Trump campaign's attempt to throw out the Pennsylvania vote, noting that Biden has won the state and results will be certified by state officials on Monday.
