That's what we find ourselves caught in here in America during its greatest internal crisis since the Civil War.

The wealthiest 1% has got America by its balls. And to keep us from realizing it to the point we might have to be labeled "Enemy Combatants" they've been treating us to the old Good Cop, Bad Cop routine that they're used to using on America's minorities and the weakest elsewhere.

Well, we all know about the "light skinned" Obama who doesn't talk like a Negro, thanks to Harry Reid. Many Repugs are calling for his head. Like sharks who think they smell blood, they start to circle around for the kill.

And in totally knee-jerk reactionary mode, Kossacks seem to be flocking to Reids defense.

Why? What has Harry Reid done except obstruct and derail everything we work for? When we talk about Good Democrats, Harry Reids name does NOT appear on that list. In fact, he's one of the first we want to see gone.

So WTF people? Why are we defending Harry Reid?

There's a rec'd diary right now that claims Greenwald doesn't have an alternative to corporatism. He does, but he doesn't give it to us in the article in question. He gives it in the body of his work.

Greenwalds article in question is simply trying to give people a paradigm shift in how they view the political landscape. The same paradigm shift I presented right here on Daily Kos four years ago.

Below I will review both his and my own articles and it should be glaringly obvious what the alternative both I and Greenwald see as the only solution.

April 2nd, 2009:

Regarding the upcoming health care reform debate, we believe it is important for you to know that virtually the entire 77-Member Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) prefers a single-payer approach to healthcare reform. Therefore, it will come as no surprise as you work to craft comprehensive health care reform legislation, that we urge the inclusion of a public plan option, at a minimum, in the final legislation. We have polled CPC Members and a strong majority will not support legislation that does not include a public plan option that is supported on a level playing field with private health insurance plans.

We look forward to working with you to ensure inclusion of a public plan option and the successful passage of healthcare legislation that will provide a choice of quality healthcare for all Americans.

The Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) had to resort to suing the DoJ for failure to provide records to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform of Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald's interview with Vice President Richard Cheney over the Valerie Plame Leak that endangered our national security, destroyed a CIA front and blinded us to nuclear proliferation in the middle east.

On October 1st, U.S. District Court Judge Emmet G. Sullivan ordered the release of records of former Vice President Cheney’s interview with the FBI in the Valerie Plame Wilson leak investigation. He set the deadline at Oct.9th.

The DoJ still hasn't released these records. Why and how the Obama administration is covering up for Dick Cheney's treason below the fold.

Obama promised change and he certainly has - changed that is. The day after he was inaugurated, Obama proclaimed:

My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.
Government should be transparent.

Yet, yesterday Jason Leopold reports

President Barack Obama sent a letter July 29 to Senators Joe Lieberman and Lindsey Graham informing them that he would work with Congress to ensure legislation is passed that would block the release of any photographs and videos depicting U.S. Soldiers abusing detainees in Iraq and Afghanistan captured after 9/11.

The bait and switch that was the "public option" was simply a ruse to get activists to compromise on the only real healthcare option that can work: single payer. The "public option" ruse allowed the rallying cry to change from "healthcare, not healthinsurance" to "choice for all". However, the decision to change our rallying cry, to compromise on single payer, allowed an opening for the insurance industry to gain a solid role in forming any comprehensive plan proposal.

With single payer, we locked them completely out of the process. With a "public option" all the industry had to do was to be certain that any government option could not be an effective competitor to the private industry.

That is exactly what they have done.

Our Congress is waffling on health care reform. IF they sell us out to the insurance industry again, then THIS TIME we need to make them pay and pay dearly. To do that, we need to kick their sorry asses out of office.

But that's not enough. They'll just replace one useless Blue Dog/sleazy incumbent with some other Blue Washed Dem. We have to make sure that his replacement isn't another health industry sellout.

That's where YOU come in.

That's right, as far back as 1999, the majority of medical academia, Deans, department chairs, residency training directors, physician faculty at medical schools, resident physicians, and medical students, favored single payer.

The nations best and brightest have felt all along that single payer is the way to go.

I just got an email from MoveOn. Some of you may have gotten it as well. I'll just cut to the main thrust of this email:

Since taking office, President Obama hasn't said much about a key plank of health care reform: the public health insurance option. Some worried he had backed off from his support of it.

Who would that be? The health insurance industry? If we pass the public option, they will use it to dump their most expensive customers onto the taxpayers. Then, the public option will become burdensome and require higher deductibles and copays. It will not be competitive with the insurance industries. Then the right will point to it as a failure and a taxpayer burden and proof positive that no public healthcare system is viable.

Far from being a step towards Single Payer, it will be the death knell of Single Payer.

And this horrifying email from an organization I thought we could all trust just gets worse. It, and my reply, after the fold.

That was the title of an article six years ago by Carlton Meyer. In it, Mr. Meyer lays out a very cogent argument why the North Koreans are not a legitimate threat and that South Korea could defend itself from them all by themselves.

It seemed a good article to draw upon since people have been stressed out by the latest breaking diary.
