I've been gone a loooong time. I checked out, in disgust, when I realized that the war criminals, traitors, spies, nuclear black marketeers, heroin dealers, corporate gangsters, and self-appointed aristocrats weren't going to be prosecuted for their numerous racketeering operations, war crimes, felonies and usurptions of power.

The Bush Administration committed the Crime Against Peace by invading and occupying and then looting and terrorizing a whole country. Then they claimed that ethnic cleansing (the-ahem!-surge) was a brilliant counterinsurgency strategy that Democrats had to admit was effective.

So, Obama is really proposing WELFARE. Obama is interested in controlling your piece of the pie.

40% of us don't pay taxes, and Obama wants to send those people a check, and he wants to increase taxes on other people to spread the wealth around.

That's the PILE OF DUNG that McCain is serving as I write this.

As time goes on, and events unfold, it becomes more and more apparent that the solution I've proposed to solve the financial crisis is not just another solution, but it will become the only solution.

First, let's reason through the consequences of the federal government's actions recently.

Second, let's look at demographic and economic realities that cannot be ignored going forward.

Last, I'll reprise my proposal, and this time I'll add other consequences of taking that approach which I did not include in earlier diaries.

Now that the bailout has been passed, the banks and financial institutions will be shored up, and we will avert a credit crisis, right?

NO.

Experts say the most important thing that needs to happen before the $700 billion bailout even has a chance of working: Home prices must stop falling. That would send a signal to banks that the worst has passed and it's safe to start doling out money again.

Housing prices are not gonna "go back up" anytime soon, and "make money for the taxpayer." Home prices must stop falling? Really? Who is going to make that happen for the banks?

Well, ok, generally, I'm opposed to socialism.

We have socialist features in our society.

Like the Defense establishment. The defense corporations and military services are an enormously successful socialist enterprise. In fact, some people think they are too successful. Some people think they waste extraordinary amounts of money, fight unnecessary wars sometimes, and regularly give us protection-racket-scares to juice up their budgets. Some people think we could rein in military spending without becoming defenseless.

And Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid. All socialist features. Though I'm generally opposed to socialism, I'm one of those people who thinks that medical care should not be a business proposition. Call it my sympathy for some Christian ideas.

If we throw a trillion dollars into this corrupt system, we won't get solvency. We'll get a bigger mess.

The solution is not to give the same corporate leadership who got us into this mess (over 25 years, not two or ten).

The solution is not to get the federal government into the mortgage and securities business. I heard the financial experts this morning touting the bailout plan, saying that the government will but the mortgages and securities for 50 cents on the dollar, and then, they say, the federal government will MAKE money when the market goes back up. Don't you believe it! That is, unless you think that the government should manage the economy for the next 20 years or so.

Critics have asked me to stop writing about this, saying they are "embarrassed" seeing such writing on Dailykos. Yet, they will not debate me on the issue. They raise objections, and I answer the objections, and then they quit.

The people who like the ideas I present are very supportive, however. So, I won't stop writing about it. I'm simply writing commentary now, but that doesn't mean I can't scoop up links and back up what I have to say. IMO, though, that's not really necessary, since the points I'm making are so bleeding obvious for anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of the subject.

So, over the jump, a commentary on "The Magical Thinking of Fractional Lending"

Yesterday, I wrote a diary on this subject, and it drew a few skeptics, but mostly favorable comments.

Essentially, I'm arguing that the neither the Treasury Secretary, nor the President, nor the Fed Chairman, nor the Fed collectively, are the right persons or institutions to properly manage the financial crisis.

I'm also arguing that Congress is making a big mistake giving all this money to Bush. It won't PREVENT a depression. It will cause one.

It is worth reflecting, at this time, the arguments of such liberal luminaries as Thomas Paine and John Locke.

I'll paraphrase, and make my point most concise.

Look around you. Do you see cities and highways and skyscrapers and farms and factories and rails and ships?

Do you imagine that all will VANISH unless the Congress lavishes a fortune unprecedented in human history upon a corporate aristocracy whose avaricious mismanagement has created the eve of their collapse?

NO, indeed.

I started this diary in reaction to the news I read this morning about Salim Hamdan's trial, but I decided to tackle something that no one yet, as far as I know, has stood up and said anything about.

First, Hamdan.

From what I have gathered about this guy, he was Bin Laden's driver. That's his crime. He got a job as a chauffer driving Bin Laden around. For that, he was thrown in jail for six years, denied due process, labeled one of the most dangerous people on the planet, tortured, and now, put on trial for "war crimes," which have been specifically described as "conspiracy" and "providing support for terrorism."

How many of you know that on June 5th, 2008, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates announced that he was appointing a task force to oversee the nation's nuclear arsenal, and the nuclear procurement process?

Didn't know that? Well, it's true. Don't feel bad though. The MSM only reported high level resignations at the air force, and gave sketchy details about some of the lax accountability with regard to nuclear weapons.

But there is far more to the story. And, if you heard Gates' press conference on C-span, and happen to know a little background, you would understand that something a lot bigger than a shake-up of air force leadership is happening.
