Kriss Marion is an absolutely fantastic candidate with broad endorsements running to flip rural WI HD-51 to the Democrats. But, before I say anything else, I’d like to call out that Kriss has a great sense of humor!
This is the kind of resilience that Democrats running to flip red districts blue need, and Kriss has it by the bushel basket! (Also, as a Gen X’er, love the turntable in the campaign office!)
More than that, Kriss also has a clear vision for Wisconsin that is resonating in her district and laying the framework for her to defeat GOP incumbent Todd Novak.
I’ve already written about some other great Wisconsin candidates like Sara Rodriguez, Sarah Yacoub and Emily Siegrist, and Shaun Murphy-Lopez and Deb Andraca. Kriss’s race is more winnable than theirs but she still faces a real challenge to unseat her Republican opponent.
It’s not just that we absolutely have to win Wisconsin’s electoral votes, but it’s also that for us to make real progress in Wisconsin it’s exactly candidates like Kriss that we need to elect, re-elect and support as they work to pass legislation. As the Capital Times writes in their endorsement:
Nothing will change if Novak is reelected. Nothing will get better for southwestern Wisconsin.
That’s why voters from Shullsburg to Monroe, from Rewey to Gratiot, from Mineral Point to Lone Rock, are so excited about Marion’s candidacy. Her campaign signs are popping up along country roads and on the sides of barns, on the side streets of Spring Green and Dodgeville. People know she is ready to hit the ground running in the Legislature, as an honest and committed reformer who will stand strong for open government, who will work across party lines where possible and who will put the interest of rural schools and Main Streets on the agenda of the Legislature and the governor’s office.
Please, with everything on the line in this election, please take a moment to get to know Kriss Marion and all the great candidates working to flip Wisconsin back to the Blue.
Each of these candidate articles may seem like a small drop in the bucket when it comes to the latest news or political drama, but in aggregate, these down ballot races are exactly where we stand the best chance to flip real, legislative power back to Democrats.
Every progressive change netroots activists want to see in this nation runs first through a local state legislative race. That’s how the American political system works. Want change? Get local. Get grassroots.

About this series:
I’m a longtime local election activist and Dailykos blogger dating back to 2003. I was part of helping local blogs and the netroots drive Democrats to take back the House in 2006 and helped build some of the biggest and most successful grassroots and online groups supporting Barack Obama.
The 2020 Democratic State Legislative candidates are heroes, and deserve our support. (If you are on Twitter please click on that link!) They are our best chance of changing US politics including GOP voter suppression and gerrymandering for decades to come and many of them will run campaigns that help us win electoral college votes and key US Senate and House votes:

(This is an unaffiliated fundraising page that I created to provide a data-private, email opt out default option for those looking to contribute to many candidates at one time without signing up for emails or sharing your info with a group.)
You are able to donate to 25 worthy local candidates flipping Red seats Blue, but with the email setting to default opt-out (you have to opt-in at the end if you want to be subscribed.) Not only does this send last minute money to crucial local campaigns (who can spend on digital GOTV right up until the last second!) but it also lets you save yourself the hassle of unsubscribing from multiple lists. Even small donations split multiple ways make an impact. 85 of us have donated a grand total $6,300 so far, and every donation is definitely appreciated by the candidates. I know we can grow that total as the election closes.
Trust me, this will help us win.
Please consider donating today.
