Welcome to the odd and whimsical poetery of the Peeps related to holidaze! Let’s investigate what today is, because we need all the holidaze we can celebrate, right?
Today is many holidays! So I will pick out a couple, and you can click the link above if you’re curious about the rest. This is an open thread, so please feel free to add your favorite illustrated pomes for today in the Comments!
These are in addition to, of course, today being Sooper Toosdai! But we will ignore that because everyone is running around like krazy kittens! That, of course, is a situation for which we can post a video (with appropriate music, naturally)!
But we digress. Back to our regularly scheduled holidaze:
A warm bowl of kindness comes in many forms. National Soup it Forward Day on March 3 encourages us to deliver love and kindness by the bowlful!
Make up your favorite soup and deliver it to someone you know who could use the warmth of kindness in their life. Use #HugInABowl and #SoupItForwardDay to share on social media, and post your story on our 'Soup Talk' page.
We’re sorry we missed this! Just finished a big pot of French onion soup yesterday. May have to redo that! #HugInABowl.
free soup
by Poemasabi
In my small town supermarket
they have a soup bar.
It's self-serve
and they allow free samples.
But,
Free sample
means samples
as in before you buy soup
so you can try a little sip
to see if you like
the clam chowder,
beef and barley which has too much green pepper,
or squash bisque
before you fill the paper cup
or the larger one
with hot
delicious
soup.
It doesn't mean
"free soup"
to eat while walking
through the store
and not buying any soup
after the sample is gone
and then
as if to add insult
to injury,
leave the empty ramekin
with your sample tailings
on a random shelf,
sometimes even with a little plastic spoon
and a used napkin,
tucked behind a roll of paper towels
or toilet paper
or catfood
on your way out of the store
to stand in the parking lot
and complain to other petty soup thieves
about how "some people"
get stuff
for
free.
[I had to use this pome because I know these people! Or many just like them.]
Poemasabi is the pen name of Skip Ploss (he says so at Poetry Soup), an “impressionistic poet” and illustrator:
During school Skip would "take notes" by drawing. This lead to the famous "Bannerman Incident" of 1975 when he was asked to stay after school for his reckless doodling by his Ancient History teacher, Ms. Bannerman. When he was able to show the teacher how the pictures related directly to the subjects discussed in that day's class he was allowed to continue. Upon graduation he presented her with a 25' x 8.5" panorama of the American Civil War done with turtles.
He also has published children’s books. Learn more at Plossville!
Primates have opposable thumbs, but cats and dogs do not. Today is a day to be thankful that this is the case. Sure, it would be nice if a cat or dog could let themselves outside to use the bathroom, or be able to get their own food, but do you really think they would be responsible in doing these things?
Nuff said. It doesn’t seem to need a pome!
Please to remember that Pootie Diaries post twice a day!
The regular Pootie Diaries post daily at 1:45 pm Eastern (on Sundays at 3 pm Eastern)
and the evening Open Thread Pootie Diaries post at 10 pm Eastern

And almost finally, please note da roolz:
PWBPeeps is a group that posts a daily diary and nightly open thread for animal lovers. We share photos, seek & give advice about pet health and behavior issues, support each other in times of sadness and stress, celebrate together when times are good, and on most days have an inordinate amount of fun.
You are welcome to join us!
Here are a few not-too-onerous PWB rulez
Violate ‘em and we’ll say that you drulez
- Do not “Troll” the Pootie Peeps Diaries. If you don’t like animal diaries, there’s no need to tell us about it. Just go find some other diary more to your liking.
- Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. As in, no pie fights. This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly.
- If you would like a pic from the comment threads, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks!
- There are some pics we never post: Snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated.
- If you’re not sure about an issue...please ask. Someone is always glad to help.
