Aha, it is NY Eve and many other things, and I am already out of time! So we will let you know the days and illustrate them. No pomes tonight!! Today Is, Of Course, New Year’s Eve!
So get drunk or go polar bear swimming (if you must), set fire to things (carefully), visit family and friends, and recover from your hangover tomorrow with Iron Brew!
Since Iron Brew is no longer sold in America, how about a vanilla Coke or Dr. Pepper? Or vanilla-orange soda with a multi-supplement with iron? What’s your hangover cure, if you have one?
Of course, the best hangover cure is to take it easy and party lightly! But that’s probably only for us older folks.
how to observe
If you've been having a hard time making up your mind about something, you should make a decision today and follow through with it. If there has been something you've been contemplating all year, decide now as to what you will do. As tomorrow is the first day of the year, today is also a good day to make up your mind about what you want your New Year's resolutions to be.
It's fitting that champagne would be celebrated today, as it is a staple in New Year's Eve celebrations. Champagne is a sparkling wine, and true champagne comes from the Champagne region of France, which is northeast of Paris, centered around the cities of Reims and Epernay. English scientist Christopher Merret experimented with sugar to produce a secondary fermentation in 1662, which creates the carbonation in champagne. Don Pérignon, a Benedictine monk, was cellar master at the Abbey of Hautvillers, and is given a lot of credit—some of which may be of legend—for stopping bottles from exploding by using better corks and thicker bottles, as well as for working to blend champagnes….
Taking place on the last business or working day of the year, No Interruptions Day is a day for quiet, focus, and minimal interruptions. When at work, it is a day to finish up things before the end of the year, in order to be organized and ready for a fresh start in the new year. When at home, it is a day to turn off interrupting devices, in order to spend time with family members or focus on one's own projects.
There are so many conflicts, both big and small that exist around the world, but wouldn’t it be nice if just one hour could be spent peacefully each year? That’s the idea behind the Universal Hour Peace, a global celebration of cooperation and love. The goal is to spend the hour from 11:30 PM December 31 to 12:30 AM January 1st without any sort of fighting or conflict. Soldiers will hold their fire and family members will stop their squabbling so that everyone can celebrate the New Year in peace and hope that the tradition will continue on through the year.
The idea is that bringing in the new year in a peaceful way will start the new year off with a peaceful thought and intention.
And There Are Even More Days Today!!

And almost finally, please note da roolz:
PWBPeeps is a group that posts a daily diary and nightly open thread for animal lovers. We share photos, seek & give advice about pet health and behavior issues, support each other in times of sadness and stress, celebrate together when times are good, and on most days have an inordinate amount of fun.
You are welcome to join us!
Here are a few not-too-onerous PWB rulez
Violate ‘em and we’ll say that you drulez
- Do not “Troll” the Pootie Peeps Diaries. If you don’t like animal diaries, there’s no need to tell us about it. Just go find some other diary more to your liking.
- Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. As in, no pie fights. This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly.
- If you would like a pic from the comment threads, please ask the poster. He/she may have a copyright to those pics. Many thanks!
- There are some pics we never post: Snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered “out of bounds” and will not be tolerated.
- If you’re not sure about an issue...please ask. Someone is always glad to help.
