I think in Michigan we can see one of more dangerous gubernatorial races for Democratic Party in 2010. Current democratic governor come to term limits and not can run again for governor, and that let open race.
Michigan is the blue state where better results have republicans in second level statewide offices, and they win too in MI Senate. That make republicans have so strong young candidates for this race.
They have Terry Lynn Land MI Secretary of State, Mike Cox MI Attorney General, Candice Miller US House Representative and former MI Secretary of State, Mike Rogers US House Representative or Peter Hoekstra US House Representative. This last, officially running. Maybe they have strong primaries.
We can see about former strong republican politics from Michigan, including Mitt Romney, in these links:

This is the list of possible candidates:
- James Johnston Blanchard: MI 1942 Governor of Michigan 83-91. USHRep 75-83. Lost for governor 90 and 02.
- Bartholomew Thomas Stupak: WI MI 1952 USHRep 93- .
- Mark Schauer: MI 1961 USHRep 09- . Lost for Battle Creek City Commission 93.
- Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick: MI 1945 USHRep 97- .
- Gary Peters: MI 1958 USHRep 09- . Lost for Governor 02. Lost for MI Attorney General 02.
- Milton Robert Carr: WI MI 1943 USHRep 75-81 83-95. Lost for Senate 94. Lost for House 80.
- William McNulty Brodhead: OH MI 1941 USHRep 75-83. Lost for Senate 94. Lost for Governor 82.
- David Edward Bonior: MI 1945 USHRep 77-03. Lost for Governor 02.
- Dennis Mark Hertel: MI 1948 USHRep 81-93.
- James Allan Barcia: MI 1952 USHRep 93-03.
- Lynn Nancy Rivers: MI 1956 USHRep 95-03. Lost for House 02.
- John D Cherry: TX MI 1951 Lieutenant Governor of MI 03- .
- Andy Dillon: MI 1962
J Granholm is not included in the list cause term limits. About this list, i think the same list in republican side seems few more strong. Maybe because they make redistrics in Michigan in last decades making out important and young representatives from Michigan. This is a important reason for win this race and for try end with republicans majority in MI Senate. I think democrats from Michigan must be helped strongly for 2010 elections.
From first places of this list J Cherry is considered running for governor and maybe B Stupak. I think J Barcia, who not sound for governor, can run for any other statewide office, and Andy Dillon, who sound for governor, seems good candidate for any of these statewide offices what are open by term limits. All these offices will be open if im not wrong.
More candidates sound too for governor. If any like i can include more names, but i think they are more weak for this race.
Im worry about this race. Polls of July favore republican candidates over J Cherry. They are old polls but make me to be worry.
