Goldie inspects hopeful's quilt
Triciawyse, aka The Pootie Queen, lives a life of confinement. She has a seizure disorder -- and it isn't comfortable for her to go out when something might happen at any time. Her balance is poor and arthritis causes her a lot of pain -- so she just doesn't go out. Her world is lived in a small apartment and through a computer connection...
She's had a lot of hard knocks in life, which she feels very acutely. Tricia is an extraordinarily sensitive woman -- and sometimes the weight of circumstances is so heavy upon her that she becomes very blue to the point of great pain. This sensitivity is colored by past experience as a survivor of child abuse and sexual abuse which she wrote about very touchingly here and here. If you haven't read those diaries, go look...but don't be surprised if you cry. I did.
It is said that the Pootie People are among the kindest and most generous on Daily Kos and that the Pootie diaries are a real oasis here. This is all true -- and largely because triciawyse has tended and led the Pootie diaries for years. That generosity, that glow of kindness is a reflection of the light of her own enormous heart. She shines that light in spite of her own pain. Tonight, let us put our arms around Tricia and give her messages of love and support for her own community quilt. That way, in times when she is really hurting or feeling low, she can draw upon community love for healing and support.
Basting hopeful's quilt -- with help!
What is a community quilt? It is a quilt containing messages from you transcribed by me in archival ink on muslin. My sister and I will create a colorful quilt around your loving words, a blanket full of love. Tricia will be able to wrap herself up in good feelings at any time with her quilt. She can rest under it, laugh with it, and cry into it if need be. The love will never wash out.
A better view of hopeful's quilt. It is done except for the binding.
It takes time and material to make a community quilt -- and it is our small living. If you would like to contribute to the cost as well as with a message, here is a PayPal link -- or message me for an address should you prefer a check. $15/message is suggested -- although some give more to support the messages of those who cannot afford to contribute. It is not necessary to donate to leave a message!
Phil N DeBlanc's quilt
Hopeful's quilt will be done within the next couple days -- then we will start on 2thanks' quilt. There is still time to leave him a message, though.
The center block of hopeful's quilt is an original design by my sister. Hopeful loves daffodils.
