That other diary that was accusing Mike Huckabee of kissing reluctant women was taken down, and well it should have been, since “you can’t kiss a woman leaning away from you in this climate” is *not* what he said.
Complaints in the diary that he was being misquoted did make me go watch the original video, since the reality-based need to be fair even to Mike Huckabee.
What I found there absolved him with respect to kissing reluctant women, but it condemned him with respect to his remarks about journalism.
It’s short, so please watch it:
*
HUCKABEE: Well, first of all I think that right now the world’s oldest profession is getting a great deal more respect among the American people than the so-called profession of journalism.
Journalism has died in this country. There isn’t any.
Journalism used to be the objective recitation of what had happened leaving it to the reader or the viewer to determine what they thought about it.
Today the commentators and the so-called newscasters are giving their opinion to the point that an analysis by Media Research Center found that when they covered Donald’s Trump’s immigration proposal, it was 93% negative.
When they covered his attempt to deal with Obamacare, it was 94% negative.
And when they covered the tweet in which he suggested that the Obama administration had surveilled Trump Tower, Dana, it was 99.5% negative.
I just want to know what was that half percent that was positive because I must have missed that. Everything I heard was utterly negative.
You know there’s three things it’s said you can’t do: You can’t spit into the wind, you can’t climb a ladder leaning toward you, or kiss a woman leaning away from you.
Add one more to the list if you are Donald Trump: you can’t get a fair shake from the media. And he hasn’t and he probably isn’t going to.
Oh my God. Tear this dude apart.
Sigh… this is a time when I desperately wish we still had the option to put text in different colors…
Well, first of all I think that right now the world’s oldest profession
For you young-uns or non-native English speakers, “the world’s oldest profession” is a reference to prostitution, or sex work.
But for the record, sex work *is* more honorable than the lying for a living in order to destroy the country (and possibly the world) that Republicon spokesbots shamelessly do every single day.
is getting a great deal more respect among the American people than the so-called profession of journalism.
This is Fascism 101 right here, ladies and gentlemen, the attempt to discredit fact-based reporting, expecting the press to fall in line behind whatever the leader wants them to say. More on this later.
Journalism has died in this country.
You and yours are the ones trying to kill it, Huckabee. Are you aware that you are saying this on Fox News Channel, which has done more to help kill objective journalism than any other entity in the history of network news?
There isn’t any.
Well yes there is plenty, but deplorables do not consume it. Thank FSM there are still a few news organizations who are still operating outside the intertwining VRWC of GOPropaganda.
Journalism used to be the objective recitation of what had happened leaving it to the reader or the viewer to determine what they thought about it.
That is STILL the definition of journalism in places where people are still encouraged to practice critical thinking, which means, outside the clutches of the Republicon party.
Today the commentators and the so-called newscasters are giving their opinion
Again, are you aware that you are saying this on FOX NEWS CHANNEL?
And that you yourself used to be the kind of commentator who just sat there giving his opinion for an hour?
And that you are on the show that used to be named after a slimy sexual predator of a man who made his entire career on that network bloviating day after day without benefit of fact checking, giving his biased opinion for an hour every weeknight?
You know you LOVE it when commentators and so-called newscasters on Fakes News Channel and hateradio give their opinion, so long as their opinion agrees with yours.
This gaslighting, trying to claim that A does not equal A, trying to get us to deny the evidence right in front of our own eyes and ears, may have worked on deplorables but does not work on the rest of us.
to the point that an analysis by Media Research Center
Stop right there… everyone needs to know that Media Research Center is a right-wing organization that basically labels everything as negative that is not a strict regurgitation of the Republicon Party Line.
an analysis by Media Research Center found that when they covered Donald’s Trump’s immigration proposal, it was 93% negative.
That’s because the immigration proposal was cruel, arbitrary, poorly planned, poorly executed, and very likely unconstitutional. The outpouring of spontaneous demonstration against it was one of the most beautiful things I ever saw.
When they covered his attempt to deal with Obamacare, it was 94% negative.
Again, cruel, of course, because all legislation under the Zombie Eyed Granny Starver in the Speaker’s office is going to start with cruelty, and a good many of the R House caucus didn’t vote for it because it didn’t hurt people ENOUGH.
But almost everyone was in agreement, even most members of your own party, that it was poorly planned and not very well thought-out.
And everyone got an earful from their constituents who did not want to lose their coverage.
So how exactly could such a clustereff be covered in a positive fashion?
Worst of all, the ONLY purpose of the “repeal and replace” bill is to steal life-sustaining insurance benefits from the poor, the disabled, the elderly, and vets on Medicaid to give a tax cut to greedy millionaires who are already living comfortably, and Rs are still planning to come back with a new proposal to do just that because they’ve got to get their hands on that sweet sweet money or else there will be no “tax reform”.
Ryan, Huckabee, or anyone else on the red team claiming to be Christian while harboring such a profound lack of basic compassion for the needy is nothing but a blaspheming liar.
The idea that you Huckabee call yourself a Christian minister is a disgrace to everyone who actually lives by the teachings of Jesus, whether they are Christians or not.
And when they covered the tweet in which he suggested that the Obama administration had surveilled Trump Tower, Dana, it was 99.5% negative.
That’s because it was factually untrue. Republicons expect the media to give positive coverage to their LIES.
Everyone outside the propaganda circle realized immediately it was untrue because that’s not how intelligence works (under a president who obeys the law).
And no matter how many times it was proven to be untrue, including by people in DJT’s own administration, he continued to claim it was true.
That is simply delusional, and you lose credibility for every day you mimic the rantings of a delusional President*.
I just want to know what was that half percent that was positive because I must have missed that. Everything I heard was utterly negative.
I’m sure the one-half percent was all on Fakes News, hateradio, and the affiliated evil web of GOPropaganda. As a result, I am surprised you missed it also. Don’t you watch The O’Reilly Factor every night?
You know there’s three things it’s said you can’t do: You can’t spit into the wind, you can’t climb a ladder leaning toward you, or kiss a woman leaning away from you.
This was the statement dealt with so controversially in the now-deleted diary. He appears to be saying that kissing a woman leaning away from you is something you can’t do, or shouldn't do, which is correct (even though it actually is possible to spit into the wind and climb a ladder learning toward you).
It was right to delete the other diary for implying Huckabee was complaining about not being able to kiss a woman leaning away from him “in this climate”… since he did not say the last three words.
Add one more to the list if you are Donald Trump: you can’t get a fair shake from the media. And he hasn’t and he probably isn’t going to.
Wait a minute, though. Since you want DJT to get a “fair shake” from the media, are you implying that it’s too bad that’s another thing he can’t do? This is where the wording is unfortunate. Since the last thing is something you DO want, you are implying you wish you could do the other three things, including kissing reluctant women.
But it is possible that you are too ignorant to know how analogies work, so I guess you have to get a pass.
Bottom line, DJT *IS* getting a “fair shake” from the media in that they are not calling him a blithering idiot every moment of every day.
They are not calling him out on his third grade vocabulary, minimal ability to read and possible inability to remember what he says from the beginning of a sentence to the end.
They are not calling him out on his need to have his daughter at his side at important meetings like a watchful nanny making sure he doesn’t say or do something completely out of line.
They are not calling him out on the way his staff has to baby his volatile moods and feed him positive news stories so he doesn't throw a tantrum every five minutes.
If the media were treating him objectively, they would be saying even worse than they have been saying already. They are pulling their punches out of respect for the presidency in general and unfortunately as a result they are shielding the crass, unfit and thoroughly incompetent man currently holding the office from the maelstrom of negative coverage he so richly deserves.
Yet even that is not enough for him and for you. Deplorables will settle for nothing less than fawning adoration and agreement and everything else is branded as “negative” coverage, even when the actions he is taking are negative and deserve negative comment!
That is the way dictators behave, expecting propaganda and (self) censorship of the media to go hand in hand:
Journalists were … encouraged to see their occupation as one of many forms of service to the nation [snip]
No such idea of adversarial journalism, of subjecting the actions of state to investigation and scrutiny, was to infect the minds of the nation’s newspaper writers and editors. Rather Mussolini contended that “Fascism requires militant journalism,” the country’s newspapers presenting themselves “as a solid bloc,” committed to “the Cause” and obscuring or outrightly burying any fact or story antithetical to it. Even more than post-factum censorship, Mussolini favored this kind of proactive steering of the press, hardly subtle and clearly defining his expectations as both military and civilian leader of the people. In Fascist Italy, social and political pressures—and the resultant self-policing by the media—were at least as important as actual legal proscriptions, probably much more important.
So in the sense that the media are refusing to print the uncritical propaganda exactly as he feeds it to them, it is true that DJT can’t get “a fair shake” from the media.
He does not deserve one.
And neither, Mr. Huckabee, do you.
Jesus Christ didn't have blue eyes or blond hair.
He looked just like all those people that Huckabee wants to kill.
