So I was reading an article today about a scientific experiment taking place in Switzerland, the purpose of which I only vaguely understand. The Large Hadron Collider, a device capable of smashing particles together at 7 teraelectron volts (and to put that into perspective, that's almost 1.12 microjoules) of energy has been fired up.

The Collider, which apparently has more moving parts than a Teabagger's justification for receiving government disability benefits, has taken some time to finally realize its full potential, with it apparently being as dependable as my push lawnmower on its first summer pull.

Film director Roman Polanski has been arrested by authorities in Switzerland, and is facing possible extradition in regards to charges stemming from an alleged child rape in 1977.

Mr. Polanski, famous for films such as Chinatown, Rosemary's Baby and The Pianist, fled to France to avoid jail time in 1978. He was charged with drugging a 13 year-old girl, and performing oral sex, along with vaginal and anal intercourse on her.

Dear Repubs:

I heard you didn't want your children to watch the President give a speech on working hard and taking responsibility for their education. At first blush I just thought that having a black guy lecture your kids on hard work is too much of a shock for your antebellum system, but later I learned that it was only because you were afraid that your children would be indoctrinated on President Obama, and his top-secret socialist agenda.

Well guess what...if your kids are in public school they're already living that agenda. You see, public schools are funded by our tax dollars. Let's take me for instance. I'm a single guy in my mid-twenties, who makes a good living and pays a substantial amount in taxes. I don't have any kids. I don't know if I ever will. But part of my tax bill goes to the public schools in my state. We'll call it "spreading the wealth".

I saw this on TPM, and the link directed me toThe Briefing Room at TheHill.com. Apparently Rep. Mark Ross of the great state of Arkansas thought it necessary to tell the world that he wouldn't vote for a bill that kills old people. Apparently that is all it takes to get elected in his congressional district.

First of all, I have to admit, after Barack Obama released his birth certificates (a clever forgery that will be revealed in due time I might add), I thought the issue of Obama's Constitutional eligibility to be President was settled.

That was until today, when one of my super secret right-wing friends told me about some paperwork he saw that Karl Rove is preparing to release via his new 527 group. Since my conservative friends have never led me astray in the past, I have no reason to believe that this isn't true.

The Taliban has posted video of a person believed to be a U. S. solider, captured on June 30th. The soldier appears frightened, but in relatively good physical condition as he is questioned by his captors.

I'm beginning to think that CBS News is sweet on MJ. Two days since its article showing record support for marijuana legalization, they're out with another article indicating the progress made in the war on cannabis prohibition. I'm not quite ready to report that "Only CBS" is reporting along such lines, but they are certainly representing "Everyday People" in their reporting.

So light up a Guiding Light, find some Evening Shade and join me after the fold.

I'm not a marijuana user, but I absolutely support the use of marijuana in the medical community. From my past reading on the subject, it is apparent that marijuana has medical benefits, and therefore should not be considered a Schedule One Controlled Substance in the U. S. Controlled Substance Act, which codifies that it has little to no medicinal use.

Today on digg.com, I saw an article that sparked my attention, and I thought I was share this with you. The results are interesting, but not all that surprising.

I'm not an expert in the health care argument, but I don't think you'd have to be to understand what is a good plan and what isn't. I am blessed with a good job and good health. But it seems like people like me are becoming more the exception than the rules. Health care is seen more as a privilege than a natural right. This saddens me a great deal, because what could be more human than making sure that one of our sick brothers and sisters is taken care of, without them having to worry that they're going to be financially ruined. A Medicare for all system makes so much sense. The collective bargaining power of Medicare alone is substantial, as they pay significantly less than the rest of the health care market. (With the exception of prescription drugs, but that's another diary, another day)
